From My Crafty Heart

Ik kom op dit moment helaas tijd tekort om jullie blogs direct te bezoeken, het kan dus wel eens een dagje (of twee) later worden, maar ik kom langs hoor! Vandaag twee kaarten, deze heb ik gemaakt voor de verjaardag van Lynne die gisteren jarig was, nogmaals van harte proficiat!! Omdat Lynne erg van de romantische stijl houdt, heb ik mijn kaartje vrij klassiek gehouden:

Time for romance

Wat een heerlijk weertje is het toch hè? Waar hebben we 't aan verdiend! Omdat we nu weer kunnen genieten van zwoele zomeravonden buiten, wil ik het op het terras ook gezellig maken en heb een paar oude windlichten een nieuw jasje gegeven. Heb stukken stevig linnen bestempeld, gerafeld en om de windlichten gedaan. Een paar keer touw eromheen, parellint en een bloem gemaakt van kant en tule. Nog wat kleine schilderijlijstjes erbij met daarin wat jaren '20 gezichten van mooie dames en ja, dan ben je zo lekker bezig, dan maar meteen een romantisch jurkje erbij (tag) en een roos gemaakt van koffiefilters (met distress inkt gekleurd). Theelichtjes erin en genieten maar!
Are you enjoying the weather as much as I do right now? To what do we owe this pleasure! Since we are now allowed to enjoy those wonderful sultry summer evenings outdoors, I'd like to make things nice outside as well and altered a couple of old big tea light holders. Gave them a new look. I took some sturdy burlap, stamped it and frayed the edges. Wound some sisal around the glasses, some pearl ribbon and added a DIY flower of lace and tulle. Added a couple of small picture frames in which I put some lovely ladies' faces and while I was at it even made a romantic dress tag and a rose out of coffee filters (which I died with distress ink). Now all I need to do is put some tea lights inside!

Sarah Kay's Cottage

Ik ben altijd al dol geweest op de afbeeldingen van Sarah Kay, dus toen onze teamleidster Teresa van My Crafty Heart mij nieuwe stempels toestuurde om mee te werken, was ik meteen enthousiast en heb vandaag maar direct twee creaties om te laten zien. Een cottage en een framekaart.  Ik heb altijd in een cottage willen wonen, het liefste ergens in Engeland, in de Cotswolds, met veel, héél veel bloemen in de tuin en een ouderwetse waterput. Met die bloemen in de tuin is het wel goed gekomen en de rest? Droom ik er toch gewoon bij? De template voor dit huisje is van Papertrey Ink. Heb de dakrand afgemaakt met een stukje kant, grote parels en de pearl pen voor de kleine pareltjes.
I've always been fond of Sarah Kay, so when our team leader Teresa of My Crafty Heart sent me some new stamps to work with I immediately fell for them. So today I would like to show you two creations, made with the same stamp. A cottage and a frame card. I've always wanted to live in a cottage, preferably somewhere in the UK, in the Cotswolds, with a lot, a tremendous lot of flowers in the garden and one of those old water wells. Part of the dream came true, the flower bit and the rest? Hey, we should all have our dreams, right? The template of this little cottage is from Papertrey Ink. I finished the roof with a piece of lace, large pearls and used the Pearl Pen to make the smaller pearls in between.

You talk... I'll Listen...

Ik was weer eens m'n rotzooi aan het opruimen toen ik een oude spiraal tegenkwam, inderdaad, heb die bewaard met het idee in m'n achterhoofd om er óóit nog eens iets mee te doen. En als je dan ook nog eens een stuk dikker karton tegenkomt in je kast, dan is het idee al snel geboren. En al helemaal wanneer je zojuist de nieuwe stans van Tim Holtz hebt aangeschaft ;-) De pagina's zelf zijn volledig gemaakt met het papier van Prima Marketing (Printery).  Ik heb een telefoonboek gemaakt, maar dan ééntje met de gezichten achter de nummers. Ik laat de gezichten en de teksten voor zich spreken:
I was cleaning up the mess in my craft room when I came across this old metal spiral, indeed, I kept it "just in case". And this wasn't all I found, I found a good sized piece of chipboard, so that's how this album was born basically. Especially since I bought Tim Holtz' telephone die very recently. I used Prima Marketing (Printery) papers for all the inside pages. I made a phone book, but this time one with faces behind the numbers. I'll have the faces and texts speak for themselves:

 Even je stem horen... - I just needed to hear your voice...

  Zoveel moderne communicatietechnieken tegenwoordig, maar luisteren de mensen eigenlijk nog wel écht naar elkaar? - So many modern means of communication nowadays, but do people actually listen to each other?

  Oh, wat fijn dat je belt! Ik ga er even rustig voor zitten! - Oh, how wonderful of you to call me! Let me grab a seat first! 

  Bellen is leuk en gezellig, maar er gaat toch niets boven een handgeschreven brief, zoveel meer persoonlijk -  A phone call is nice and agreeable, but there's nothing I love better than an old-fashioned handwritten letter, so much more personal...

Ik heb "Material Girl" op de tag gestempeld; beetje symbolisch bedoeld, want het slaat zowel op het bezitten van een telefoon als het materiaal als kant, band en lint dat hier is gebruikt;

I stamped "Material Girl" on the tag; there's some symbolism to it, being a material girl in the sense of owning a phone as well as making use of materials such as lace, ribbon and burlap that I used here:

Ball at the Moulin Rouge

Toen ik deze afbeelding op Deviantart tegenkwam, had ik op de één of andere manier direct het beeld van de Moulin Rouge voor me, een meisje voor het eerst alleen in de grote stad Parijs, op zoek naar nieuw geluk. Dit dametje heeft de mazzel dat ze er zo leuk uit ziet, ze kan nl. zó aan de slag in de Moulin Rouge, als danseres, maar ze is nog aan het twijfelen... Ik heb haar ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft, het papier is van Prima Marketing (Moulin Rouge, hoe kan het ook anders?). Nog wat grove stiksteken om de rand met de hand genaaid. De grote bloem is zelfgemaakt met de retroponsen.
When I saw this pretty girl on Deviantart I somehow immediately envisaged the Moulin Rouge. She's a young girl, all alone in the big city of Paris, looking for new happiness. This little lady is fortunate for having such good looks, she's about to be employed as a dancer, but she's still doubting... I coloured her with my Derwent Coloursoft pencils, papers are from Prima Marketing (Yes, Moulin Rouge, indeed!). I handstitched the entire page rather coarsely and made the large flower with my retro punches:
