Give A Girl The Right Shoes And She Will Conquer The World!

Afgelopen woensdag en donderdag waren mijn blogvriendin Stella en mijn schoonzus Agitte jarig en daar moest natuurlijk wat voor worden gemaakt. Nu is Stella helemaal stapel op alles wat blauw is en ben ik in de familie niet in de enige met een schoenentic, want mijn schoonzus is hier ook dol op ;-) Dus ik vond het wel weer tijd voor wat schoentjes, kunnen ze meteen hun nieuwe levensjaar mee instappen! Voor mijn schoonzus moest het rose zijn, want ze is 50 geworden (sshtt, niet verder vertellen!) en geeft een Sweet 50 feestje waarbij iedereen in het rose gekleed moet komen, leuk leuk leuk, heb er nou al zin in! Maak er een mooi weekend van allemaal en bedankt voor al jullie reacties op mijn laatste bericht ;-)

 Last Wednesday my blog buddy Stella and my sister-in-law Agitte celebrated their birthdays so of course I had to make them something. Stella is extremely fond of anything blue and thank goodness I'm not the only one in our family with a shoe addiction ;-) I thought it was time for a couple of new shoes again, for Agitte and Stella to step into their new year! For my SIL it had to be pink, for she turned 50 (sshht, don't tell anyone!) and is throwing a Sweet 50 party where we all have to dress up in pinks, fab fab fab, I'm already looking forward to it!! Lazy Days Of Summer

Met mijn lieve blogmaatje Odetta van Somerset Garden heb ik afgesproken om de twee maanden een swap te doen, zou dus eigenlijk weer medio augustus zijn. Maar ja, we zijn alletwee te enthousiast om voor elkaar iets te maken, dus het is iets vroeger geworden! Geloof echter niet dat we dát nou allebei erg vinden ha ha ha! Dit keer heeft Odetta het thema bepaald, het moest een kaart worden in een vintagesfeertje met zon, strand en zee. En dit is wat ik voor haar heb gemaakt, een muurhanger. De schelp heb ik op vorm geknipt en heb er lijnen in geëmbost voor het diepteeffect en vervolgens geaccentueerd met chalks. En uiteraard nog wat echte schelpjes toegevoegd voor een wat realistischer resultaat. Er zijn schelpen met parels binnenin, ik heb hier een afbeelding van een verordening uit die tijd geplaatst, dames mochten immers niet "onkuis" aan het strand verschijnen? Nou, deze dame, de actrice Lila Lee (afbeelding heb ik hier gevonden) is precies juist gekleed voor een dagje aan het strand, ze ziet er toch allercharmantst uit? Bedankt weer voor het langskomen!!
My dear blog buddy Odetta from Somerset Garden and I agreed to have a swap every two months. Officially this was supposed to be mid August, but it seems we two are too enthusiastic in creating something for each other, so we're a wee bit early! Not that we mind, lol! This time Odetta set the challenge, it had to be a vintage style postcard, breathing elements of sun, beach and sea. And so this is what I made for her, a wallhanger. I handcut the shell from paper and embossed some lines to create some depth; I then applied some chalk and added some real shells for a more realistic effect. Some shells have pearls inside, I used an image of a beach law used in those days; ladies weren't supposed to go the beach dressed improperly? Well, this young lady, the actress Lila Lee (I found her image here) is well-clad for a day at the beach. Doesn't she look most charming? Thank you so much for visiting again!!

En dit is wat Odetta mij heeft toegestuurd, niet één kaart, nee, maar liefst twéé van die beauties!! Ik was al helemaal wég van haar Tildakaart toen ze die vorige week op haar blog plaatste, daarom was mijn blijdschap enorm groot toen ik daar de gelukkige ontvangster van mocht zijn. Ik wil je nogmaals heel hartelijk bedanken voor alweer een geweldige swap Odetta, wat zijn ze toch leuk om te doen!! Ik kijk nou al uit naar de nieuwe ;-) And this is what Odetta sent to me, not one card, no, she sent me two of those beauties!! I adored her Tilda card when I first saw it on her blog last week, so you can imagine how thoroughly pleased I was to be the lucky recipient! Thanks again for another wonderful swap Odetta, they're so much fun!! I'm already looking forward to the new one ;-)

Your Wings Already Exist, All You Have To Do Is Fly...

Vlinders maken een wonderlijke ontwikkeling door, van rups tot hun uiteindelijke schoonheid. Zo is het met veel mensen ook, iedereen moet soms door moeilijke fasen heen, maar het is aan jou of je de kracht, moed en hoop hebt om uit je cocon te breken. Soms is hier lef voor nodig, meestal gewoon de liefde van de mensen om je heen. Mijn inspiratie voor deze vlinderdame kwam uit deze gedachte voort. Ieder mens is mooi en uniek, ieder mens heeft het in zich om te stralen (gesymboliseerd door de stralenkrans om het hoofd van deze dame heen). Ieder mens heeft een bepaalde levensstijl waar hij of zij gelukkig van wordt. Durf te vliegen!! Deze vlinderdame is inmiddels al op weg naar een jarige blogvriendin.
The pupal transformation into a butterfly is quite remarkable: from caterpillar to enormous beauty. Much the same goes for us people, too, everyone of us sometimes have difficult stages in life to go through, but it is up to you whether you have the strength, courage and hope to break out of your cocoon. Sometimes this takes a lot of guts, usually "just" the love of people around you. My inspiration for this Butterfly Lady came from this philosophy. Every human being is beautiful and unique, every human being has the power to radiate (symbolized by the halo around this lady's head). Every human being has a certain life style that makes her or him happy. Dare to fly!! This butterfly lady is already on its way to a blog buddy who's celebrating her birthday soon.

Ondanks het matige weer is er toch weer heel weer wat te vieren vandaag, bijvoorbeeld dat Miranda van Scrappy Doo jarig is! Nogmaals van harte proficiat meid, dat het maar een mooie dag voor je mag worden! Hier is de muurhanger die ik voor haar heb gemaakt. De basis is van kraftpapier en het silhouette-meisje heb ik met de hand uitgeknipt. Het romantische papier van Melissa Frances vond ik hier perfect bij passen.

Congratulations again girl, hope this will be a wonderful day for you! Here's the wall hanger I made for her. The basis is made of kraftpaper and I cut out the silhouette girl by hand. I thought these romantic Melissa Frances papers would be perfect for this cute girl.

Just A Note

Allereerst bedankt voor al jullie gezellige reacties, heel leuk om te lezen wat voor thee jullie graag drinken (of niet natuurlijk!). Zoveel mensen, zoveel smaken!
Voor een vriendin die binnenkort jarig is heb ik deze kaart met bijpassend notitieblokje gemaakt. Het prachtige papier van Prima Marketing leent zich perfect voor alles met met vintage te maken heeft, de keuze was voor mij dus heel eenvoudig te maken. Blijf (on)bewust toch nog steeds in het Parijse sfeertje hangen, had zelfs al een Eiffeltoren uitgeknipt tot ik die stans van Die-namics tegenkwam ;-) Nu we het toch over die romantische stad hebben, wat is voor jullie nou de ultieme romantische stad? Waar mag jullie man jullie mee verrassen? Voor mij persoonlijk zijn het zelfs een paar steden, Parijs (uiteraard!), het prachtige Wenen, München vind ik ook beeldschoon, Berlijn heel interessant, Sevilla buitengewoon indrukwekkend en wat te denken van ons eigen relaxte Amsterdam?? Ach, er is zoveel moois te zien, zélfs in je eigen omgeving, je moet er slechts oog voor hebben ;-)

First of all thank you all so much for your sweet and lovely comments, I really enjoyed reading what kinds of tea you are all drinking (or not, of course!). So many people, so many flavours!
I made this card with matching notebook for a friend who will be celebrating her birthday any day now. The gorgeous papers of Prima Marketing is absolutely perfect for anything vintage, so I had an easy choice to make. Can't help it, but I'm somehow still clinging to Paris, I had even cut out an Eiffeltower when I came across the Die-namics die ;-) And now that we're talking about this romantic city anyway, what would be your preferred romantic city? How could you husband surprise you? My personal choices vary, I'd say Paris (of course!), gorgeous Vienna, I adore Munich, think Berlin is a most interesting city, Seville extremely impressive and how about our own very relaxed city of Amsterdam? Oh well, there's so much to see, even your own village carries surprises, you just have to open your eyes and watch closely;-)

Come And Share A Cup Of Tea

Een lekker kopje thee op z'n tijd, daar hebben de meesten van ons toch wel trek in? Er zijn tegenwoordig ook zoveel smaakjes, er zit altijd wel iets bij voor eenieder. Wat is jullie favoriete theesmaak? Of drinken jullie net als ik een ander smaakje op bepaalde tijden? Zo drink ik over het algemeen groene thee of Darjeeling Flush (kan ik de hele dag door drinken) en heb ik 's avonds graag Earl Grey, vind ik nét even wat sterker dan. Voor een theeminnende vriendin heb ik deze tea dispenser gemaakt van kraft papier, het patroon hiervan vond ik in een oud Hobbyjournaal. Heb er Pickwick thee Earl Grey in gedaan.
A nice cup of tea, most of us will enjoy one once in a while or regularly? There are lots of flavours these days, a taste for every palate I'd say. What is your favourite flavour? Or are you like me and drink a different flavour at certain times? I usually drink green tea or Darjeeling Flush (can drink this all day long) and in the evenings I prefer Earl Grey,  love the smokey flavour. For a tea loving friend I made this tea dispenser from kraft paper, found the pattern in an old Hobbyjournaal. Put some Pickwick tea Earl Grey inside the box.
