Start every new day with a Smile!

We gaan bijna een nieuw jaar tegemoet. Wat zal het ons brengen? Iedereen vraagt zich dat heus wel eens af, maar is het niet gewoon beter om het leven te nemen zoals het komt? En er dan mee te 'dealen'? Het bespaart je een hoop zorgen vooraf en daarom heb je meer tijd om te genieten van de mooie dingen die op je pad komen. Ieder mens krijgt z'n nodige portie mee, het gaat erom hoe je ermee om gaat. Ik wens jullie dan ook vooral veel liefde en gezondheid toe, want als je dat bezit, ben je een gelukkig mens! En vergeet niet te (glim)lachen! Je zult zien dat een hoop mensen vanzelf teruglachen! En daar word je als mens toch blij van? Dank jullie wel voor alle gezellige en leuke bezoekjes van het afgelopen jaar, hoop nog veel van jullie creativiteit te mogen genieten! Hier is mijn laatste verjaardagskaart van het jaar, tot 2013!

We're almost entering the new year. No doubt we all wonder what it will bring us. But wouldn't it be better to just take life as it comes? And 'deal' with it when you're confronted with something? This will save you lots of worries in advance and so you will have more time to enjoy the wonderful things that life has in store for you. Everyone gets his share in life, but it's how you cope with it. So my dearest wish for you all is lots of love and good health, because if you are in possession of those, you're one happy human being! Oh, and don't forget to smile/laugh a lot! You'll notice people responding to that! Which will make you happy in return. Thank you all so very much for your sweet, lovely visits to my blog and I so hope to enjoy your creativity for many more years to come! Here's my last birthday card of the year, see you in 2013!

A Marie Antoinette Christmas

Zijn jullie al klaar voor de Kerst? De kerstkaarten allemaal de deur uit en het huis gezellig versierd? Kan er niets aan doen, maar ik vind dit één van de mooiste tijden van het jaar, de geur van kaneel, glühwein, kaarsjes aan (al branden die bij ons zo'n beetje het hele jaar door) en natuurlijk toch ieder jaar proberen om weer iets anders te verzinnen als versiering. Ik ben dól op kerstsokken, misschien herinneren jullie je deze nog, van vorig jaar? Toen was bij mij het thema Jane Austen, dit jaar heb ik gekozen voor Marie Antoinette, het werd weer eens tijd voor haar ;-) Heb uit satijn een lange kous geknipt en tussen twee lagen satijn fiberfill gedaan voor de vulling. Daarna onder het naaimachine en toen kon het leuke werk beginnen: het versieren! Veel kant, veren, een zelfgemaakte bloem (tutorial vind je hier op mijn blog), een strik van manliefs overhemd (wie wat bewaart heeft wat hè?), parels, charms en witte bloemen van respectievelijk mijn vriendinnetjes Odetta en Sue.
En dan nog even een vraagje: mocht je dit lezen Sylvia dan wil ik je hartelijk bedanken voor je reactie op m'n vorige post, ik wou terugreageren maar had geen email-adres van je, noch was je blogprofiel toegankelijk.
Have you girls finished your Christmas preparations yet? All of your Christmas cards sent to your family and friends, your house wonderfully decorated? I can't help it, but I really love this time of the year, the wonderful smell of cinnamon, glühwein, candles (although we burn them nearly all year round). And every year I'm trying to create my own ornaments. I LOVE stockings, maybe you remember this one, from last year? When I made a Jane Austen style stocking? This year I thought I'd bring on Marie Antoinette, high time that I did ;-) I cut out a long stocking from satin and added fiberfill between two layers of satin. After stitching it up I could finally start the fun part: adding embellishments! Lots of lace, feathers, a DIY flower (you can find my tutorial here), a lovely white ribbon of my DH's shirt (it's a good thing not to throw away things too easily!), some pearls, charms and white flowers from my sweet friends Odetta and Sue.

 Grote satijnen bloem (heb hiervoor exact hetzelfde satijn gebruikt als voor de sok, en tóch wordt  hij iets donkerder wanneer hij klaar is) - Big satin flower (I used exactly the same satin as for the stocking and yet it becomes slightly darker once finished):

For My Sister

Ik heb maar één zus en die koester ik. Zussen hebben immers een hele speciale band met elkaar? Sinds onze ouders niet meer leven, houden wij ieder jaar een zusjesweekend en volgend weekend is het weer zover. Ik heb deze kaart speciaal voor mijn zus gemaakt. Heb van vellum een zakje gevouwen en daarin een tag gestoken. Het silhouette is uitgeknipt uit speciaal Scherenschnittpapier, dat is erg dun en laat zich dus supergemakkelijk knippen. De tekst komt uit een oud leesboek van Albert Camus. Oh ja, ik heb de voorzijde van het vellumzakje eerst nog door een embossingfolder gehaald.
I only have one sister and I cherish her dearly. After all there's such a special connection between sisters? Ever since our parents passed away we have our special sisters' weekend once a year, next weekend we'll be having our annual outing again. I made this card for my sister. Made a bag out of vellum paper and placed a tag inside. I cut out the silhouette from special Scherenschnittpaper, which is very thin and easy to cut. The text is from an old Albert Camus novel. Oh and by the way, I embossed the front of the vellum tag:

Afgelopen weekend zijn mijn mannetje en ik trouwens naar Duitsland geweest waar we o.a. de sfeervolle kerstmarkten hebben bezocht en hier in Rüdesheim in een echt wijnvat hebben geslapen, voelde me net zo'n kaboutervrouwtje, zo onwijs leuk dat het was!!
Ik kom jullie blogs weer heel gauw bezoeken hoor, want ik heb denk ik weer veel gemist! Tot snel!
Last weekend my DH and I went to Germany; among other things we visited the most wonderful Christmas markets and slept in a real wine barrel in Rüdesheim. Would you believe I really felt like a gnome lady? We had such fun!! I'll be around to visit your blogs real soon, for I think I must have missed out on lots of wonderful stuff! See you girls soon!

For the Visions of Sugarplums blog hop I've got a small lantern for you today. And since there so many lovely giveaways I thought it would be nice to add something, too, the template to make a lantern like this. I found it in one of my very old craft books. So glad I don't throw things away easily! I made the windows from vellum and the gorgeous vintage children can be found at The Graphics Fairy. Thanks Karen! First Snow...

Geloof het of niet, maar het sneeuwt hier! De eerste groene takken in de tuin zijn inmiddels wit! Denk dat de creatie die ik vandaag hier plaats voor Visions of Sugarplums (zie mijn vorig bericht) dus best wel toepasselijk is ;-)

Het is weer zover! De tweede Visions of Sugarplums gaat morgen van start! Het was vorig jaar al een hele leuke happening en dit jaar belooft het nog leuker te worden met allerlei creaties, recepten én heel veel giveaways voor de Kerst. Toen Lori me vroeg om ook dit jaar weer mee te doen was ik hier direct voor te porren ;-) Doe ook mee en ga voor meer informatie naar Lori's blog! Ik plaats morgen ook een project en woensdag weer. Ik heb nog wel een kaartje voor vandaag om te laten zien, ben hiervoor geinspireerd geraakt door die prachtige Orthodoxe kerken in Rusland. Ook deze kaart is alweer op weg naar een jarige ;-) Heb een soort envelopkaart gemaakt en op een schildersezel geplaatst. De matryoshka pop er als een tag los ingestoken. 
I do have a card to show you today, got my inspiration from those stunningly gorgeous Orthodox churches in Russia. This card is already on its way to a friend whose birthday is coming right up ;-) I made a kind of envelope card and placed it on an easel. The matryoshka doll is tucked in like a loose tag:

Ben ik weer! Zat een tijdje in het buitenland maar kan nu weer lekker bij iedereen langs komen en zelf nieuwe dingen maken! Allemaal onwijs bedankt voor alle geweldige reacties op mijn kerstkaarten in mijn vorige bericht. En nou de rest van de kaarten nog maken ha ha ha!!
Vandaag is mijn blog-vriendinnetje Naomi jarig en natuurlijk heb ik voor haar iets gemaakt. Had haar gevraagd welke stijl ze leuk vond en ze gaf aan 'into pink' te zijn en dress forms wel te zien zitten. I'm back again! Was abroad for a while but I'm now able again to come round to visit you girls and create new things myself! Thanks a bunch for the wonderful reactions to my Christmas cards in my last post. All I need to do now is to finish the rest of the Christmas cards, LOL!
Today my blog buddy Naomi is celebrating her birthday and of course I had to make her a little something. I asked her which theme or style she'd like to see and she told me she was quite into pink and dress forms. So I took it from there and this is what I came up with, hope she likes it!
