Lazy Days Of Summer

Met mijn lieve blogmaatje Odetta van Somerset Garden heb ik afgesproken om de twee maanden een swap te doen, zou dus eigenlijk weer medio augustus zijn. Maar ja, we zijn alletwee te enthousiast om voor elkaar iets te maken, dus het is iets vroeger geworden! Geloof echter niet dat we dát nou allebei erg vinden ha ha ha! Dit keer heeft Odetta het thema bepaald, het moest een kaart worden in een vintagesfeertje met zon, strand en zee. En dit is wat ik voor haar heb gemaakt, een muurhanger. De schelp heb ik op vorm geknipt en heb er lijnen in geëmbost voor het diepteeffect en vervolgens geaccentueerd met chalks. En uiteraard nog wat echte schelpjes toegevoegd voor een wat realistischer resultaat. Er zijn schelpen met parels binnenin, ik heb hier een afbeelding van een verordening uit die tijd geplaatst, dames mochten immers niet "onkuis" aan het strand verschijnen? Nou, deze dame, de actrice Lila Lee (afbeelding heb ik hier gevonden) is precies juist gekleed voor een dagje aan het strand, ze ziet er toch allercharmantst uit? Bedankt weer voor het langskomen!!
My dear blog buddy Odetta from Somerset Garden and I agreed to have a swap every two months. Officially this was supposed to be mid August, but it seems we two are too enthusiastic in creating something for each other, so we're a wee bit early! Not that we mind, lol! This time Odetta set the challenge, it had to be a vintage style postcard, breathing elements of sun, beach and sea. And so this is what I made for her, a wallhanger. I handcut the shell from paper and embossed some lines to create some depth; I then applied some chalk and added some real shells for a more realistic effect. Some shells have pearls inside, I used an image of a beach law used in those days; ladies weren't supposed to go the beach dressed improperly? Well, this young lady, the actress Lila Lee (I found her image here) is well-clad for a day at the beach. Doesn't she look most charming? Thank you so much for visiting again!!

En dit is wat Odetta mij heeft toegestuurd, niet één kaart, nee, maar liefst twéé van die beauties!! Ik was al helemaal wég van haar Tildakaart toen ze die vorige week op haar blog plaatste, daarom was mijn blijdschap enorm groot toen ik daar de gelukkige ontvangster van mocht zijn. Ik wil je nogmaals heel hartelijk bedanken voor alweer een geweldige swap Odetta, wat zijn ze toch leuk om te doen!! Ik kijk nou al uit naar de nieuwe ;-) And this is what Odetta sent to me, not one card, no, she sent me two of those beauties!! I adored her Tilda card when I first saw it on her blog last week, so you can imagine how thoroughly pleased I was to be the lucky recipient! Thanks again for another wonderful swap Odetta, they're so much fun!! I'm already looking forward to the new one ;-)

Zomers gefladder - Summer Flutter

Ik kan er niets aan doen, maar iedere zomer geniet ik weer van het gefladder van de vogels en vlinders en de bloemenpracht in onze tuin. Wij hebben een vriend die daar ook dol op is én die komende zaterdag jarig is. Mijn vriendin heeft de kaart inmiddels gezien, sterker nog, ze heeft hem al in haar bezit, dus mag ik hem nu best hier laten zien :-) Omdat hij een groot natuurliefhebber is, heb ik veel van de natuur in deze kaart verwerkt. Stansen zijn o.a. van Tim Holtz, Creatables en Sizzix. Ik heb hier papier gebruikt van 7Gypsies, Victoria Paper Walker en Webster's Pages. En nou maar duimen dat-ie 'm leuk vindt!

I just can't help it, but every summer I'm really enjoying the fluttering of birds and butterflies and also of the beauty of all the flowers in our garden. We have a friend who LOVES nature and who's celebrating his birthday coming Saturday. His wife has already seen this card, better still: she already has it in her possession! So it's ok to show it to you now. Since he's so fond of nature I used a lot of appropriate elements in this 'card'. Dies are made with Tim Holtz, Creatables and Sizzix. Papers used are 7Gypsies, Victoria Paper Walker and Webster's Pages. And now I'll keep my fingers crossed, hope he likes it!
