Feestkasteel - Party Castle

M'n nichtje Phoebe is 4 geworden en ze is nog helemaal in de rose fase van prinsessen, dus kon ik niet anders dan voor haar een "eigen kasteel" maken, Phoebe's Feestkasteel! Toen ik het stempeltje van Bildmalarna zag, herkende ik direct dezelfde ondeugende snoet en was de link tussen die twee gauw gelegd. De template is van Deneen Treble en het papier komt van de Pipoos. De afdrukjes zijn ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft. Het kasteel kan gewoon worden ingevouwen en zo worden verstuurd. Een beetje kasteel heeft natuurlijk een ophaalbrug, dus die mocht hier niet ontbreken, cupcake van Magnolia erop gezet en het feest kan beginnen! Phoebe wacht vol spanning wie er allemaal komt!
My niece Phoebe turned 4 and she's still very fond of pink and princesses, so I couldn't resist making a castle for her, Phoebe's Party Castle! When I saw this Bildmalarna stamp I immediately recognized the same cheeky little face :-) They just had to be combined somehow. Template is from Deneen Treble and papers from Pipoos. Stamps are coloured with Derwent Coloursoft. The castle can be folded (1st picture) and thus sent by mail. A true castle has a lift bridge, so I added one and put a little Magnolia cupcake on it. Let the party begin! Phoebe is already looking out for you!

Herfstbladeren - Autumn leaves

Ik zit hier met een heerlijk glaasje rode wijn dit berichtje te schrijven. De tijd van droge witte wijn en rosé is helaas weer voorbij. De herfst doet weer zo'n beetje zijn intrede, ik ben zelf meer een zomermens, maar goed, we maken wel weer iets gezelligs van de nieuwe seizoenen! Heb dus vanmorgen heerlijk zitten freubelen en deze herfstdame gemaakt. Ik heb haar gevonden op Deviant Art, zo'n ongelooflijk prachtige website! Ze is ingekleurd met Distress Inkt en de tag zelf is gekleurd met Viva Decor (papersoft colour mosgroen). Toen de inkt nog nat was, heb ik hier wat goud embossing poeder overheen gestrooid en verhit. Daarna gestempeld (stempels zijn ook van Viva Decor) met diverse kleuren Versamagic.

Een echte dame heeft natuurlijk een handtasje bijpassend bij haar kleding :-) De tasbeugel vond ik tussen allerlei gebroken sierraad- onderdelen en zo ook de ketting die ze draagt. De blaadjes zijn allemaal geponst (o.a. Spellbinders, Marianne Design en Nellie Snellen). I'm sitting here writing and enjoying a wonderful glass of red wine. The time of dry white wines and rosé has passed, I'm afraid. Autumn is gradually taking over. I'm more of a summer person myself, but hey, we'll enjoy the seasons to come as well! I've been working on Mrs. Autumn this morning. I found her on Deviant Art, such an incredible website! I coloured her with Distress Ink and the tag itself is coloured with Viva Decor (papersoft colour moss green). While the ink was still wet, I sprinkled a little bit of gold embossing powder on the tag and heat embossed it. I stamped it afterwards (stamps are also from Viva Decor) with several colours of Versamagic. A real lady has a purse that fits her outfit :-) I found the purse frame in a box where I keep all my broken jewelry as well as the necklace. The leaves are all punched (a.o. Spellbinders, Marianne Design and Nellie Snellen).

Award!

Mijn goede vriendin Steph uit Hawaii heeft me blij gemaakt met deze prachtige award! Steph is DT-lid van Papercraft Star en vindt het heerlijk om met mooi papier, lint en bloemen prachtige kaarten te maken. Bedankt Steph! Ik moet nu nog wel eerst een paar vragen beantwoorden, dus hier zijn ze:
1. het mooiste dat ik ooit heb gemaakt is...
2. ik hou van freubelen omdat...
Wat ik geweldig vond om te doen, was ons 'Gaudí'-bankje in de achtertuin, daar ben ik best trots op!
Verder knutsel ik heel graag omdat dat voor mij dé manier is om mijn fantasie nog meer los te laten. Ik vind het heerlijk om dingen te bedenken die misschien niet zo simpel zijn om te maken, maar daar ligt dan juist wél de uitdaging!
Ik mag deze award doorgeven en ik geef ze graag aan Lynne en Marietta. Lynne maakt prachtige vintage-items en Marietta's stukjes lees ik ontzettend graag omdat ze een hele levendige schrijfstijl heeft die mee erg aanspreekt.

What I really loved doing was our 'Gaudí' bench in the backyard, I'm quite proud of it. 

Furthermore, I love crafting because to me it's the ultimate way of allowing my fantasy to go wild. I love fantasizing about things that may be difficult to create, but there's the real challenge for me! 

I'd like to pass this award on to Lynne and Marietta. Lynne's vintage items are stunningly beautiful and I always love to read Marietta's posts, she has a very vivid and appealing way of writing. If ever she decides to publish a novel, I'd be the first to read it!

This is a man's world

Gek hè, ik was met deze verjaardagskaart bezig en er kwam ineens het liedje van James Brown in m'n hoofd :-) Kijk, wij meiden weten natuurlijk wel dat het éigenlijk allemaal anders zit en de énige échte power Girl Power is :-) Maar af en toe moet je mannen een beetje blij maken ha ha ha!! Nou, dat hoop ik dan met deze beetje steampunk-achtige kaart te doen. Het papier is van K & Company en van Webster's Pages, de stempels van o.a. Inkadinkado en Stampinback. De foto's zijn natuurlijk van Fred Astaire, vond ik vroeger echt héérlijk om naar te kijken, naar zijn dansfilms met Ginger Rogers!! De embellishments komen uit een fourniturenwinkel.

Isn't it funny, I was working on this birthday card and all of a sudden this James Brown song came into my head (and it hasn't left since!). Look, we girls all know that the only real power there is is Girl Power (of course :-) But every now and then men have to be pleased, LOL! Well, I hope to please someone with this steampunk-ish card. Papers are from K & Company and Webster's Pages, the stamps are from a.o. Inkadinkado and Stampinback. The pictures are Fred Astaire, of course. I really loved watching his dance movies with Ginger Rogers!! I got the embellishments from the haberdasher.

Vintage baby

Dit kaartje heb ik gemaakt voor een blogvriendin die in verwachting is van haar tweede kindje. Ik heb er bewust niet zo'n mierzoet babykaartje van gemaakt, de kleine moet immers nog geboren worden? Ik vond het wel grappig om de baby nu eens niet door de ooievaar te laten brengen :-) En de vlinder begint ook een nieuw leven, net ontpopt.

I made this tag card for a blog friend who is pregnant with her second child. I chose not to make a sweet baby card, but a vintage one instead, the little one yet needs to be born? I thought it would be funny not to have the stork bring the baby this time :-) And the butterfly also starts a new life, grown from a caterpillar.

Weer naar school - Back to school!!

Wij hebben zelf geen kinderen, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat we het niet allemaal een beetje bijhouden! M'n nichtjes en de dochter van m'n vriendin moeten komende maandag weer naar school en ze hebben er zin in! Vooral m'n jongste nichtje van 4 staat te trappelen om naar 'de grote school' te gaan. En dan is een gezellig kleurrijk kaartje toch een leuke stimulans om ze een plezierig nieuw schooljaar toe te wensen? De kleurplaat van Diddl (lang leve internet!) heb ik helemaal ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft, het ABC-tje zijn cardboard letters die ik heb geembossed met verschillende kleurtjes. De potloden had ik hier al járen liggen en ik kwam ze tegen tijdens een opruimbeurt, toch handig! Ik heb ze omwikkeld met centimeter- tape. Nog wat randen geponst (Martha Stewart), paperclip eraan en bloemetje erop. Veel plezier op school meisjes!!

We don't have any kids ourselves, but that doesn't mean we don't keep up :-) My nieces and friend's daughter all have to go to school coming Monday and they really look forward to it! Especially my 4 year-old niece! She's dying to go! I thought a nice colourful card would be a great idea to wish them all a pleasant new school year. I colored the coloring page of Diddl (long live the internet!) with Derwent Coloursoft, the ABC are cardboard letters which I embossed with different powders. I've had the pencils lying about for years on end, I found them in a drawer during one of my cleaning up tours. I enveloped them with centimeter-tape (which I happened to find during the same tour), punched the rims (Martha Stewart) and attached the paperclip and flower. You girls have a great time at school!!

Maurice Chevalier

Jullie kennen ze vast wel, die prachtige fotoalbums uit de oude doos. Met deze kaart heb ik een beetje een ouderwets album willen nabootsen. Het zwarte karton heb ik al een eeuwigheid hier liggen, zo ook het touwtje waarmee ik de twee pagina's aan elkaar heb bevestigd. Omdat dit een verjaardagskaart is voor een man, moest het een wat stoere look krijgen. Ik heb de Postcard stamp van de Pipoos gebruikt, de postzegel is van Tim Holtz (French Market) en de "birthday wishes" en de fotohoekjes aan de binnenkant zijn van een onbekend merk. De foto is afgewerkt met de Sizzix photo corners. Met Distress Inkt Walnut Stain zijn de randen verouderd. Het wijzende handje is van Graphic45. Zowel de foto als de uitspraak zijn van Maurice Chevalier, een grote ster in Frankrijk toentertijd. 

De binnenkant van de kaart, vond dit zo'n leuk verjaardagsgedicht!

Ik heb de persoonlijke tekst wazig gemaakt. Niet dat jullie denken "jeetje, wat heeft ze zitten knoeien zeg!" :-)

I guess you're all familiar with the wonderful black nostalgic photoalbums. I've tried to give this card the look of one of those antique albums. I've had the black carton for ages, as well as the ribbon that I used to tie up the two pages. Since this is a male birthday card I went for a more masculin look. I used the  Postcard stamp from Pipoos (a shop here in Holland), the postmark is from Tim Holtz (French Market) and the "birthday wishes" and photo corners on the card's inside are from an unknown brand.  I placed Sizzix photo corners around the picture. Distressed with Walnut Stain. The small pointing hand is from Graphic 45. Both the picture and the quote are Maurice Chevalier's, at the time a huge star in France.

Verjaardagscadeautje - Birthday Gift

Wat was ik vanmorgen blij met het pakje dat ik van mijn goede vriendin Steph uit Hawaii ontving!! Ben zó blij met haar prachtige banner die ze speciaal voor mij heeft gemaakt en ik ga 'm dan ook zeker ophangen met mijn verjaardag! Er zitten stempels in, embellishments, prachtig lint en ze heeft ook nog eens een hoop afdrukken gemaakt met de Tim Holtz Textures. Nogmaals heel hartelijk dank lieve Steph en een dikke kus van mij!! Mahalo Nui Loa!!

I was soooo happy this morning to receive the parcel of my dear friend Steph from Hawaii!! Just look at this gorgeous banner she made me!! I will definitely put it up next week for my birthday!! Chef de cuisine

Onze kleine chef de cuisine is met de heerlijkste gerechten bezig in de keuken van het grote landhuis. Het gevogelte ligt met de pootjes omhoog in de koperen schaal, klaar om te worden overgoten met een bourgogne. Zo, nog een beetje tijm, rozemarijn en laurier erbij en de schaal kan de oven in. Wat is koken toch een ontspanning! Tenminste, dat zou het eigenlijk voor iedereen moeten zijn. Helaas schiet met aandacht koken er bij veel mensen te vaak in, al die kant-en-klaar-maaltijden maken het er niet bepaald beter op. Ik heb eten altijd een sociale bezigheid gevonden, het koken zelf en daarna het gezellig kletsen met een wijntje erbij tijdens het eten zelf. Eén van de mooiste momenten van de dag! Met aandacht voor de maaltijd en aandacht voor elkaar, wat heeft een mens nog meer nodig? Wijn verhoogt de gezelligheid en versterkt de smaken in een gerecht, toen ik de challenge bij Our Vintage Affair voor deze maand zag, had ik direct zin om ook zo'n mooie fles (rode) wijn in te gaan pakken. Ik heb al een beetje voor de herfstkleuren gekozen vanwege de wijnkeuze, het papier is van Kaisercraft (Photo Friendly) en de leuke labels "Sociétié Industrielle de Verrerie" (glaswerk) vond ik wel toepasselijk hierbij. Deze zijn overigens van Anna Griffin. Wat metalen embellishments "Live, Laugh, Love" en een frans aandoend knoopje in de bloem maken het geheel af. Bon appetit!

Our little chef de cuisine is preparing some lovely dishes in the kitchen of the manoir. Poultry is lying feet up in the copper cooking pot, ready to be seasoned with some thyme, rosemary, bay leaf and burgundy wine. Ready to be cooked. Cooking is relaxing! Or so it should be. There are too many ready meals on the market, it's big fun to cook with some attention. I've always thought of food/cooking as a social event, first cooking itself and then having a good conversation and a beautiful glass of wine to accompany the meal, one of the best moments of the day! It's all we need, attention for the meal and for each other, right? Wine just enhances the good feel and the flavours of a dish. When I saw this month's challenge at Our Vintage Affair I wanted to wrap up a nice bottle of red wine. Because of the colour of the wine I chose some autumn colours, paper is from Kaisercraft (Photo Friendly) and the wonderful labels "Sociétié Industrielle de Verrerie" (glass work) are quite appropriate. By the way, they're from Anna Griffin's. Some metal embellishments "Live, Laugh, Love" and a French looking button inside the flower finish the whole. Bon appetit!

Holi Festival

Wat is het leven zonder kleur? In India vindt ieder jaar Holi plaats, het Festival van Kleuren. Het wordt gevierd als welkom aan de lente en om de overwinning van het goede op het kwade te vieren. Mensen besmeuren elkaar met de meest wonderbaarlijke kleuren (wat wij ook wel 'ns doen in onze hobbykamers :-) en het is dan ook een zeer kleurrijk feest. Ik kwam in één van de beste bladen die ons landje rijk is, de Happinez, een artikel tegen over dit festival met de daarbij behorende prachtige foto's. Eén van die foto's heb ik voor deze kaart gebruikt. Ik zie de handen op deze foto als symbool voor geven, vrede en verbondenheid, iets dat één van India's grootste staatslieden Ghandi tot kunst wist te verheffen. Hij wist door zijn liefde voor de mensheid enorm veel kleur te brengen in de wereld. De mini gebedsvlag is een klein cadeautje voor mijn zeer reislustige vriendin die binnenkort jarig is en diverse van dit soort vlaggen in haar huis heeft hangen. De tag zit in een zakje dat uit écht Indiaas krantenpapier is gevouwen.

What's life without colours? In India Holi takes place every year, a day when the Feast of Colours is celebrated. It marks the abundance of upcoming spring and commemorates the victory of good over evil. People enjoy themselves playing with the most beautiful colours (a bit like our hobbyroom every now and then :-) In one of the best Dutch magazines "Happinez" I read an item on this festival. It also included the most exquisite pictures. I used one of them for this card. The hands to me are a symbol of giving freely, peace and unity, something that one of India's major leaders Ghandi knew how to transform into art. His love of mankind brought colour to the world. The mini prayer flag is a small gift to my friend who loves different cultures and who'll be celebrating her birthday next week. She also has many of these prayer flags in her house. The tag sits inside a pocket which is folded out of a real Indian newspaper.

Shakespeare in Love

Onze trouwdag (aankomende zondag) laten we nooit zomaar voorbij gaan en dus heb ik ook iets voor mijn mannetje gemaakt. Van het mooie gemarmerde papier dat Ineke uit Venetië heeft meegebracht, heb ik een Venetiaanse gondel gemaakt met daarin een verliefd stel uit de Renaissance (red. wij dus :-). Aan boord een lading liefdesgedichten van Shakespeare, vroeger één van mijn favoriete schrijvers. Ze "varen" over het 21e sonnet van de grote schrijver (papier van DCWV Mariposa Butterfly). 

We always celebrate our wedding anniversary (coming Sunday) and so I made my husband a little something, too. I used Ineke's beautiful marble paper from Venice to create a gondola. On board a Renaissance couple in love (that's us :-) and a stack of love poems written by Shakespeare, who used to be one my favourite authors. They "sail" across the 21st sonnet of the famous author (paper is from DCWV Mariposa Butterfly).

En ik ben niet eens jarig! And it's not even my birthday!

Ik ben de laatste tijd verwend met een paar hele lieve en leuke cadeautjes. Vandaag vond ik een envelop op de deurmat met daarin deze prachtige kaart, knoopjeshart en deurhanger van Ineke omdat ik haar 100e volgster ben geworden! Heel hartelijk bedankt, je bent een lieverd!
Lately I feel very spoilt with these wonderful sweet and lovely gifts. Today I found an envelope on my doorstep in which I found this gorgeous card, button heart and doorhanger from Ineke, for being her 100th follower! Thank you so much, you're a true dear!

En wat te denken van dit supermooie "Marie Antoinette" espressokopje? Deze kreeg ik onlangs van mijn schoonzus Agitte. Onze mannen vinden 'm foeilelijk en superkitsch, maar ja, daar houden wij dan wel weer van :-) En dús heeft-ie een prominente plek in de keuken gekregen. Misschien ga ik het kopje nog wel pimpen, maar voorlopig smaakt de koffie er uitstekend uit! De knuffel heeft ze al van me gehad, maar hier is er nog ééntje xxx

And what do you think of this stunning "Marie Antoinette" espresso cup? My sister in law Agitte gave this to me recently. Our husbands think it's "darn ugly" and "überkitsch", but hey, we like this :-) And so it got a spotlight position in our kitchen. I might alter this cup, but for now I'm happy drinking coffee from it! I already gave her a big hug, but here's another one xoxo
