Flower Girl

Today is my sister's birthday, I only have one, so I'm very caring about her! And where there's a birthday there's a card, so this is the one. The image is Sugar Nellie and I coloured the girl with distress inks. The papers I used are Prima Marketing, boy have they launched some beautiful papers lately! The edge is Crealies. I'd like to thank you all for leaving me such lovely, wonderful, funny and sweet reactions, they always make my day!

Ja ja, het is na achten - Yes, yes, it's after eight

Chocolate always makes a lovely giveaway. If you create a nice packing you have a wonderful gift! A very simple box of After Eight can be wrapped up nicely, here's the make-over. I used standard cardstock, took out some Spellbinders and my little pergamano scissors to cut out the male silhouette. The bottom of the packing is open, which makes it easy to take out the chocolates!
VOOR - BEFORE:
NA - AFTER:

You rock girl!

Last year the cousin of my brother-in-law had several brain tumors. She underwent surgery, a couple of tumors were removed, she remained happy, optimistic, sweet and kind as always. She had a speedy recovery and rejoiced in life again. Until she recently received some bad news: the other tumors started to grow again... And yet she remains full of confidence and enjoying life, after having been dejected for only the briefest of moments. She's the mother of 3 young children and tremendously brave, I hugely admire and respect her, she's so courageous and her perseverance is remarkable. Now this is the real Girl Power in my opinion!!

Bloemenbad - Flower Bath

Today is my last day as Artist in Residence at French Kissed Postcards. I really enjoyed working with the beautiful postcards that Trishia has to offer in her webshops. Thanks again for hosting me Trishia! I loved working for and with you! This is the (mirror) image I used for my flower bath. I wanted to imitate the old-fashioned vintage posters and since May is the month of flowers AND because a flower bath is delicously romantic, I made an old vintage clawfoot tub. I used Spellbinders die (Symbology One) for the claw feet and cut out the right size. The perfume bottle is K & Company (Madeline Grand Adhesions) and the stamps from a.o. Inkadinkado. Background paper is Prima Marketing. Don't forget to check French Kissed Postcards coming Monday for another freebie!
Happy Mail:

Look what my blog buddies sent me, darling Marie sent me this gorgeous handmade vintage pillow, don't you just love it? And sweet June sent me these wonderfully handmade pins with all kinds of fun goodies, isn't she a dear?

Best Friends

Mothers and daughters, entire books and beautiful songs have been written about them. Since I'm neither a good author, nor a fine songwriter, I chose a different way to honour my mother, a scrapbook LO. When I first laid eyes on the new papers of Kaisercraft (Chanteuse Collection) I knew what I wanted to make. At long last I was able to do something with my favourite baby picture of my mother and I. It took me quite some years though to get this far, I even couldn't see the word "Mother's Day" the first years after she died... My mother was not just my mum, but also my very best friend. How many times we laughed our heads off! And the things we did together... Wonderful memories, all of them, memories that had yet to be born the minute this picture was taken... The flowers are made of lining fabric, the branches are made with a Crealies diecut.

Butterfly Kisses

Zoveel koninklijks in slechts 2 dagen! (deze zijn gemaakt met papier van Webster's Pages, de quote aan de linkerkant van de kroon is daar trouwens ook van): Today is the big day for Prince William and Kate, I mean Catherine, because that’s how she will be called after their Royal Wedding. We’re in for a couple of Royal Days by the way, Saturday we are celebrating Queen’s Day in the Netherlands as well. So much Royalty in only 2 days! So I had to come up with a regal theme this week. True Royalty needs tiaras, right? I mean I would look like a Pageant Queen dressed up, but then again I’m not true royalty am I (notice the small letters instead of the Capitals, LOL!). Ok, I’ll leave the official stuff to the Master of Ceremonies, let’s get crafting! For this crown I cut a tiara and modeled it with some Spellbinders (Fancy Tags 3), papers are Prima Marketing (Flights of Fancy – Firefly). The happy couple was cut from a postcard that Trishia sent me, I love the looks they exchange, don’t you? And butterfly kisses, too! (butterflies are Webster’s Pages, as is the love quote on the left side of the crown):
De bloemen zijn gemaakt met Tim Holtz Tattered Florals, het papier dat ik heb gebruikt, komt uit een oud pianoboek dat ik al heel lang The flowers were made with Tim Holtz die cuts (Tattered Florals) and the paper I used came out of an old piano book that I’ve had for ages.
Don’t you just love the French quote on the right side? For those of you who don’t know what this means, it says “do you remember the day we walked through this forest and we first laid eyes on each other?”
Ah, that very first look… Do you still remember your special moment? Did you feel butterflies in your stomach? And the mutual attraction that leads to so much excitement (yes, yes, physical, too!)? Hence the idea of the corset on the back of the crown ;-)
Last but not least: the precious “jewel” on top of the crown was part of a broken bracelet.
Cheers to the Royal Couple!!

Thinner Tutorial

Today I'm going to show you how to make beautiful backgrounds with thinner. This is my final project as GD with Scrolls Work, thanks again for having me this month Jacque! It was my pleasure working with your fabulous stamps these past few weeks!
If you girls don't mind getting dirty hands, you might want to try this technique. Try anway, why else would someone have taken the trouble to invent soap ;-) Anyway, I took a sheet of standard print paper (200 gr.), cut out a nice image from a glossy (mine is from "Happinez").
Now here comes the fun part: you place this image upside down on top of your white sheet and make sure it's securely fastened with some tape.
Then you go down to your cellar or garage, pick up that bottle of thinner you've probably got stashed away and go back to your working table. You might want to work outside though, because unfortunately thinner is not manufactured by Dior ;-) Take your facial cleansing pads and sprinkle some of the thinner onto one of them. Start rubbing the pad across your image and see how the paper becomes almost transparant.
Good exercise, too, for your arm muscles! If you'd like to have a peek, go ahead, see how the colour is transferred to your paper sheet:
Then you can start finishing your project. Please say hi to Penelope (#4022), a woman full of beautiful dreams and imagination. I had the tree "come out of her hat" to symbolize the way her mind works. I took some chalks both to colour the background and to give it a soft, dreamy look. What would life be without some imagination? Hence also the George Bernard Shaw quote. Have fun trying this technique! And here's the final result:

Paascadeautjes - Easter presents

Hele fijne Pasen allemaal!
One of the best things about blogging is not just admiring creations of other people, but most definitely being in touch with some of the finest girls. I really enjoy the personal contact with others, as I'm sure you do, too! I received these lovely surprises from two of my blog buddies, Hennie sent me this gorgeous Easter card. She knows I adore bunnies and sent me this little cutie. Isn't she the sweetest? And Majo (AKA Tante Käthe) gave me this fabulous award, well, you girls just rock my Easter! Thank you both so much for these wonderful gifts! I wish you all a Happy Easter!
Because I really appreciate you all, I would like to pass on this award to all of my readers, I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by choosing a specific person only, so please feel free to put this on your blogs, you're more than welcome to it!!

Marie Antoinette

Oh isn't it just lovely to be outdoors! I simply can't get enough of it, of the flowers in the garden, the sun, wearing flip flops a skirt or dress, to be able to eat outside, total freedom, what else do we need? For my new project at FrenchKissed Postcards I chose someone who has been tremendously important to the history of France, Marie Antoinette, France's last known queen. Because she was living in a golden cage, I displayed her like that. Here's where you can find her image, the one I used for my cage dress. I made the cage with a Marianne Design die (Birdcage Moroccan). For the dress I took some nice satin, draped it around the cage and finished it with gold ribbon and bows.

Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt

For my 3rd week as Guest Designer over at Scrolls Work, I stick with the Easter theme. I pimped an egg box and picked the super cute stamp of Peter (#3526). First because rabbits are simply my favourite animals and secondly because he's wearing such marvellous 19th century clothes!! I was doubting whether to give him the Burberry style, but then decided to go with the lovely Prima Marketing papers instead. Peter succeeded in finding all of the 6 hidden eggs!

Vintage girl

This sweet little girl would like to wish you all a lovely weekend! Annemarie sent her to me, simply because it was such a dreary day at the time! Well, I can tell you that the sun came out immediately! I coloured this Sugar Nellie image with distress ink, background paper is Melissa Frances. The roses in her hair were made with the standard retro punches.
Maritha from Victorian Vignettes was looking for some Photoshop brush test pilots last week. So I contacted her and I could pick a set of brushes to work with. Here's what I came up with:
Nogmaals hartelijk dank hiervoor Cindy!!
