Vintage Box...

Vandaag hebben we weer een nieuwe uitdaging voor jullie bij Vintage Udfordring #85, maak of pimp een doosje, uiteraard in de Vintage-stijl. Ik heb een doosje gepimpt om daarin al mijn losse bloemetjes op te bergen, wel zo gezellig ;-)
Today we have a new challenge for you @ Vintage Udfordring #85, make or alter a box, of course in Vintage style! I chose to alter an existing box to safekeep my flowers ;-)

Allerlei restjes gebruikt en wat houten vlindertjes ter versiering - I used up my scraps and some wooden butterflies:

Sweet Message in a Bottle...

Zin om ook mee te doen aan een superleuke nieuwe uitdaging bij Vintage Udfordring? Je mag van alles maken, zo lang je maar geen stempels gebruikt, nou, daar weten jullie vast wel raad mee!  Ik had nog zo'n gave melkfles liggen en de laatste keer vond ik énig om die te pimpen, nou, deze keer dus ook ;-) Ook al is-t-ie héél anders geworden:
Would you like to join us at Vintage Udfordring? We've got a wonderful new challenge for you! You can do as you please (how easy and funny is that), as long as you don't use stamps! Bet you know how to create something nice! I had one of those fabulous milk bottles left and I really loved to alter it last time, as I did now ;-) Even though this one turned out completely different:

Ik ben begonnen met de binnenzijde van de fles te verven met een hele mooie zachte kleur rose (acrylverf), goed laten drogen. Daarna mooi rose kant aangebracht, het plaatje van het meisje (direct geprint op canvaspapier), wat strass- steentjes aangebracht. 
I started by painting the bottle from the inside with a beautiful old pink acrylic and left it to dry completely. Then I added some pretty pink lace, the image of the girl (which was printed directly onto canvas paper) and some rhinestone swirls. 

 De bloem is gemaakt met een stans van Joy! Crafts. Ook hier weer wat lieflijke versieringen uit Frida's winkeltje (het schitterende band boven en onderaan de fles en het witte bloemetje in de roos).

The flower (which was made with a Joy! Crafts die). Here, too, I used some lovely embellishments from Frida's store (the gorgeous ribbon on top and at the bottom of the bottle and the white delicate flower in the centre of the rose).

A Party Without Cake Is Just A Meeting

Gisteren vierde blogvriendin Anneke haar verjaardag en natuurlijk hoort daar een kaartje bij, nou ja, in dit geval een mini theatertje. Versierd met het schattige papier van de Action, kantje en houten vlindertjes (cadeautje van lief vriendinnetje Odetta). De vlaggenlijn is gemaakt met de stans van Joy!Crafts 6003/0028, de bloem is van Memory Box (Fabulous Phlox). Het gave klokje en kant komen uit de webwinkel van Frida (supertip van Odetta ;-) Let op hoor, je wordt er erg hebberig van, heb zojuist weer wat besteld bij haar! De bovenrand is gemaakt met een stans van Spellbinders.

Yesterday blog buddy Anneke was celebrating her birthday and that calls for a card, well, a mini theatre in this case. Adorned with the lovely papers from Action (A Dutch store), lace and wooden butterflies (they were a gift from my sweet friend Odetta). The banner was made with the Joy!Crafts die 6003/0028, flower: Memory Box (Fabulous Phlox). The cool clock and lace are from Frida's webstore (fantastic tip from Odetta ;-) Mind you, you'll want to order something straight away, I've just placed another order! The top part was made with Spellbinders:

Beach Life...

Wat doe je als je al twee weken superverkouden bent, spierpijn hebt, eigenlijk in bed moet liggen, veel te veel werk hebt en je zus ook nog eens jarig is? Juist ja, gewoon doorgaan met alles en iets leuks voor je zus maken ;-) En al helemaal wanneer je er maar ééntje hebt, net als ik! Heb weer eens gekozen voor één van die prachtige afbeeldingen van Ignacio (Nicecrane Designs). Eentje heb ik op mijn kaart gebruikt en de andere heb ik gewoon geprint op speciaal transparant printpapier, zand in de glaasjes, schelpjes en kaarsje erin en je hebt een leuke deco:
So what do you do when you've got a major cold, all of your muscles hurt, you really ought to stay in bed, you have way too big a work load and your sister is having her birthday? Right, you just continue living and start creating something nice for your sweet sis ;-) And especially when you only have one, like me! Again I chose one of Ignacio's (Nicecrane Designs). I used one for my card and the others were printed on special transparency paper, I put some sand in the jars, added some sea shells and some fragrant tea lights, voilà!

Altered Milk Bottle

Kennen jullie ze nog? Deze oude melkflessen? Kun je toch leuke dingen meedoen! Bij de glasbak kan altijd nog ;-) Ik heb er in elk geval ééntje aan de binnenkant geverfd met acrylverf (van dat mooie koninklijke blauw), gewoon wat verf mengen met een beetje water en in de fles laten lopen, flesje ronddraaien, drogen, klaar om te worden versierd. Dit was-t-ie:
Still familiar with those? These old milk bottles? Why not recycle them and turn them into something nice? You can always leave them at the Bottle Bank ;-) I painted one from the inside with acrylic paint (royal blue), just add a bit of water to your paint and pour it into the bottle, turn and twist the bottle a bit, leave it to dry and it's ready to be adorned. Here's the original:

En dit is-t-ie uiteindelijk geworden, versierd met een hoop bling bling. Ik heb geprobeerd er iets meer exotisch van te maken - And this is how it turned out, adorned with a lot of rhinestones, I've tried to turn it into something more exotic:

Ik heb een behoorlijke collectie van deze prachtige Turkse aardenwerken schaaltjes en daar wou ik nog wel een gezellige bloemenvaas of zo bij. Rondom uitgestanste ramen gelijmd, daarin weer glanspapier in diverse kleuren: - I have a fair collection of these gorgeous Turkish earthenware dishes and I thought it would be nice to have a matching flower vase as well. I glued the die cut Gothic windows all around the bottle and added glossy papers in different colours:

True Love... True Love...

Klaar voor de nieuwe uitdaging bij Vintage Udfordring? Een heel leuk thema dit keer, gebruik verf, spray of mist voor je project. Nou, daar kun je je toch lekker op uitleven? Voor manlief met Valentijn deze canvas gemaakt. Heb eerst de ondergrond geverfd met gesso, laten drogen. Vervolgens gescheurde stukken papier van First Edition (Rose Garden) erop geplakt, hier weer met verdunde witte acrylverf overheen gegaan en heerlijk aan de gang gegaan met stencils en embossing crème. Zo'n leuk spul als je er met je heating tool overheen gaat! Goed laten drogen zodat de rest erop kon worden gelijmd (foto, bloemen, kandelaar). De bloemen heb ik trouwens eerst voorzien van een laagje met water verdunde witte acrylverf, zo zie je toch nog het roze een beetje. En toen mijn eigen glimmermist gemaakt van Perfect Pearls (doe hiervan een heel klein beetje in een verstuiver en mix dit met een klein beetje water). Overal wat spray van aangebracht en daarna afgewerkt met Frantage. Alleen jammer dat je de shimmer niet zo heel goed op de foto ziet! Maar goed, er zit een mooie glans op nou ;-) Are you ready for the new challenge at Vintage Udfordring? We have such a fun theme this time, use paint, spray or mists for your project. Eat your heart out! I altered a canvas for my DH for Valentine's Day. First I applied a layer of gesso, left it to dry and then glued some strips of paper (First Edition, Rose Garden) on it. I then painted these strips with watered down acrylic paint. And then it's time for the fun part, stencilling! I took my embossing cream (such fun stuff if you apply your heating tool!). I made sure everything was dry before adding the photo, flowers and chandelier). Before adding the flowers I painted them with watered down white acrylic paint, you can still see bits of pink here and there. I then made my own glimmer mist (just add a bit of Perfect Pearls in a small atomizer and mix it with a tiny amount of water). Sprayed my canvas and added some frantage as well. Such a shame you can't see the lovely shimmer properly, but it's definitely there ;-)

Altered Notebook

Ik had nog een stapeltje oude schoolschriften liggen die ik goed als notitieboekje zou kunnen gebruiken. Heb er dus maar ééntje gepimpt, maakt het maken van een boodschappenlijstje zo heel wat gezelliger ha ha ha! Nog een bijpassende tag erbij voor de lol. De lieve plaatjes zijn van Pion Design en waren een cadeautje van mijn lieve vriendin Sue. Nogmaals hartelijk dank hiervoor! Al het kant komt op mijn eigen voorraad.
Wisten jullie trouwens dat je op een supereenvoudige manier alle blogs die je volgt in één keer over kunnen zetten naar Bloglovin'? Wanneer je ingelogd bent, ga je naar 'settings' en daarna kies je 'other' en 'import blogs' (vanuit Google Reader). Voilà, klus geklaard! Werkt overigens ook perfect met Feedly, een andere supergoede reader die vanuit Google Reader alle blogs automatisch kan inlezen! Dus zo hoef je eigenlijk al je favoriete blogs niet aan te schrijven, maar heb je ze meteen in één klap! Succes ermee!

 I still had a stack of old school notebooks and thought they would come in so handy. So I decided to alter one of them, making grocery lists is so much more fun now! Also had to make a matching tag, just for fun. The darling images are from Pion Design and were a gift from my dear friend Sue. Thanks again sweetie! All the lace is from my stash.
By the way, did you know that there's a really easy way to import all of your favourite blogs to Bloglovin'? Log in, go to 'settings', go to 'other' and choose 'import blogs' (from Google Reader). Voilà, that's it! This also works perfectly with Feedly, another superb reader that allows you to import all of your favourite blogs from Google Reader! So there's no need to contact your favourite blogs, like this you have them with one push on the button! Good luck!

Easter Treats

Met Pasen komen mijn zus, zwager en twee nichtjes gezellig bij ons eten en natuurlijk worden er dan paaseieren verstopt, vind het zelf namelijk veeeeeeeeeeeeeels te leuk! Denk toch maar dat ik manlief ga vragen om ze te verstoppen, kan ik lekker meezoeken ;-)
Heb voor m'n twee nichtjes deze Paascadeautjes gemaakt, heel simpel, van wc-rolletjes en bierviltjes (jullie herkennen de vormen vast wel ;-) Heb de afbeelding van dit schattige paasmeisje gevonden op Deviantart, ze is getekend door Yampuff, die heeft zulke mooie plaatjes! Ik ga jullie allemaal alvast hele fijne Paasdagen toewensen! Veel plezier bij het zoeken naar het gouden ei ;-)

At Easter my sister, BIL and two nieces are coming over for diner at our place and of course we will hide Easter eggs. Couldn't possibly NOT do it, for I like it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too much! Think I'm going to ask hubby to hide them, so I can join the girls in their search, LOL!

I've made these little Easter treats for my nieces, real easy peasy, out of toilet rolls and beer coasters (I'm sure you will all recognize the shapes ;-) I found the image of this cute Easter bunny girl on Deviantart, she's drawn by Yampuff who has the most amazing images! Happy Easter to you all! And have fun hunting those (golden?) eggs!

Zo, nu eerst...

Waar maak je een echte man blij mee? Met een sexy vrouw en op zijn tijd een biertje natuurlijk! Dus ik wist al gauw wat ik voor mijn man's verjaardag wilde maken, tel daarbij op dat we tirolerkleding in- en verkopen en het idee is snel geboren. De kleurplaat kreeg ik enige tijd geleden van een vriendin van me toegestuurd, vond ze wel toepasselijk voor ons ;-) Heb een leeg flesje bier uit het kratje gehaald en gepimpt, het is tijd voor een feestje! Het duurt niet lang meer voordat de weidefeesten beginnen en dan mag deze sexy serveerster weer de alpenweide op! En hoe zit het met dat rode rokje? Ja, jullie meiden weten toch ook wel dat als je een man op pad stuurt om voor jou lingerie te kopen, hij 9 van de 10 keren voor een rood setje zal kiezen? Ooh-la-la!
What makes a real man happy? With a sexy girl and a beer once in a while of course! So I pretty quickly knew what I was going to make for my husband's birthday and if you take into account that we're importing and exporting Bavarian garments it all adds up I suppose! One of my friends sent me this wonderful colouring page, she thought it was perfect for us ;-) I took an empty beer bottle out of its crate and altered it, it's party time!  It won't be long before the first meadow parties are taking place and this sexy waitress is serving ice cold beers again on the meadows! And what about that red skirt? Well, you girls probably also know that when your husband is sent on a lingerie mission, he's bound to buy you a fiery red set? Ooh-la-la!

En afgelopen weekend lag er deze prachtige stempelset van Stampin Up! in de brievenbus omdat ik de challenge bij Let's Create had gewonnen met deze set kaarten! Vind ze geweldig!

And last weekend I found this gorgeous stamp set of Stampin Up! in the mailbox because I had won a challenge over at Let's Create with this set of cards! I think they're awesome!

200th Anniversary of "Pride and Prejudice

Het zal de liefhebbers van het oeuvre van Jane Austen niet zijn ontgaan: de 200e verjaardag van haar veelvuldig verfilmde boek "Pride and Prejudice". En aangezien ik altijd een fervent fan van haar werk ben geweest, wou ook ik hier niet aan voorbij gaan. Heb delen uit brieven die Jane aan haar zus Cassandra heeft geschreven overgenomen op mooi briefpapier (uiteraard met het lettertype "Jane Austen";-) Die brieven en nog meer info over het leven en werk van Jane Austen kun je overigens hier vinden. Heb een stuk satijnlint genomen en er een paar charms aan gehangen, de silhouettes eerst uitgeknipt uit scherenschnitte-papier, opgeplakt op hetzelfde briefpapier en vervolgens van een glanslaagje voorzien. Kan zo mooi dienen als boekenlegger! De theelichtjes zijn heel simpel te maken, een stukje briefpapier eromheen gewikkeld, een paar uitgeknipte silhouettes opgeplakt en voilà, het lezen bij kaarslicht kan beginnen ;-) Het armbandje is een kwestie van parels rijgen en de charm is op dezelfde manier gemaakt als hierboven beschreven (de quote is natuurlijk van Jane Austen zelf), nog een swirl erop gestempeld. Iedereen kent toch de passionele relatie tussen Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy?? Wie was jullie favoriete Darcy in de film? Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, of misschien toch Laurence Olivier? Geef mij maar Colin Firth ha ha, alhoewel, Matthew heeft zo'n heerlijke stem, zwijmel...
Lovers of Jane Austen's work will certainly have noticed the 200th Anniversary of her famous novel and often filmed "Pride and Prejudice" the end of last month. And since I've always been such an ardent fan of her work, I simply didn't want this to pass without creating a little something. I used parts from the letters that Jane wrote to her sister Cassandra and printed them on some lovely stationery (of course I used the font "Jane Austen" for this ;-) You can find those letters and more information on this website here. I took a piece of satin ribbon and attached some charms, first cut out the silhouettes from scherenschnitte-paper, glued them onto the same stationery and added a nice glossy layer. This will serve well as a bookmark! The tealights are super easy to make: I just wrapped parts of the letter around them, glued some cut out silhouettes on them and voilà, you can start your candle light reading ;-) For the bracelet I took some larger pearls, added a charm (which was done in the same way), stamped a swirl and it goes without saying that the quote is by the one and only Jane Austen. And aren't we all too familiar with the passionate relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy?? Who would be your favourite Darcy in the movies? Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen or maybe even Laurence Olivier? I'll have Colin any time, lol, although on second thought... Matthew has such a wonderful voice, swoon...

At my age I need glasses ;-)

Hebben jullie dat nou ook? Dat naarmate de jaren vorderen je smaak steeds sterker wordt? Zo gaf ik vroeger helemaal niets om koffie, rode wijn en oude kaas, nou, ik kan jullie zeggen dat dat aardig veranderd is ha ha ha! En ach, ze zeggen toch dat rode wijn goed is voor je hart? Nou, m'n man en ik houden wel van een goed glas op z'n tijd hoor. Hebben jullie wel eens gehoord van 'omfietswijnen'? Van die wijnen waar je best wat extra kilometers voor wilt rijden? Zo ééntje heb ik onlangs gevonden en het leek me leuk om mijn mannetje hiermee te verrassen voor het weekend, maar ja, een gewoon papiertje er omheen is ook zo saai, vandaar dat ik er maar wat omheen heb verzonnen. De man op de foto is George Wyndham, een Brits politicus uit de 19e eeuw, blijkt echter dat hij ook een naamgenoot heeft die (ook in de 19e eeuw!) de Australische Shiraz-wijnen heeft ontwikkeld! Vond ik dus wel een grappige toevalligheid! Ik viel nl. op die snor, tja, was vroeger als meisje van 15 al behoorlijk gecharmeerd van besnorde mannen zoals Magnum P.I., kennen jullie vast nog wel ;-) Goed, ik dwaal af, waar was ik, oh ja, dat omfietsen dus, daarom moest die leuke vintagefiets er natuurlijk bij én die snor! Want ja, snorren zijn tegenwoordig toch weer helemaal hip? En die cijfertjes? Ja, je weet toch nooit van tevoren of het bij 1-2-of-3 glaasjes blijft? En de knoopjes? Tja, na een glaasje wijn kan er wel een extra knoopje los...
Does this sound familiar to you: that the older you get, your taste gets more pronounced? I didn't give a ... about coffee, red wine and old cheese, boy, let me tell you that that most certainly has changed, LOL! Oh well, don't they say red wine is good for the heart? And my DH and I do {heart} a nice glass of red once in a while. Have you ever heard of 'omfietswijnen'? Wines for which you're more than happy to drive a couple of extra miles to buy. I recently found one of those and I thought it would be a lovely surprise for my DH for the upcoming weekend. Of course I could have wrapped some nice paper around it, but I found that rather dull, hence the story that goes with this bottle. The man in the picture is George Wyndham, a British 19th century politican, but apparently he has a namesake who happens to be the (19th century) founder of the Australian Shiraz wines! I thought this was quite a funny coincidence! I just fancied his moustache ;-) I've always been fond of men with a moustache, as a 15-year-old girl I loved looking at Magnum P.I., you girls will surely remember him? Ok, I'm getting off track here... Oh yes, the extra miles, hence the fabulous vintage bike AND the moustache! Because moustaches are all the rage these days! And the numbers? Guess you just never know if you're going to have 1-2-or-3 glasses ;-) And the buttons? Well, after a glass of wine it's ok to loosen up a bit...
