Autumn Is Putting On Its New Dress

Ook al was het een heerlijk zonnig dagje vandaag, langzamerhand trekken de bomen hun herfstkleed aan. Prachtige warme kleuren verschijnen in de takken en nog eventjes en we mogen met onze regenlaarzen lekker door de bladeren lopen. Het is weer tijd voor de 2-maandelijks swap met m'n vriendin Odetta van Somerset Garden, dit keer mocht ik het thema bepalen en het is - niet erg verwonderlijk - de herfst geworden. Dit is wat ik voor Odetta heb gemaakt, een dame met een herfstkleed. De blaadjes zijn uitgeponst. Ik vond het leuk om er nog iets kleins bij te doen en dat is een zeepje in de vorm van een blaadje geworden (uiteraard ingepakt in bijpassend papier). Geniet van dit nieuwe seizoen!
Even though today it was a wonderful and sunny day, slowly the trees are putting on their autumn dresses. Branches are already flaunting their beautiful, warm and rich colours and it won't be long until we get to put on our wellies for swishing through the leaves. It's time for our bimonthly swap again (between my friend Odetta from Somerset Garden and I). This time I was allowed to host the swap and I chose the theme "Autumn" (hardly surprising I can hear you say ;-) This is what I made for Odetta, a lady wearing her new autumn dress. I punched out all the leaves. I loved adding a tiny gift, which is a small piece of soap in the shape of a leave (wrapped in paper befitting Autumn). Enjoy the new season!

Ik heb er een soort schilderijtje van gemaakt en op een ezel geplaatst. De randen bestempeld en geembost met goudpoeder en als frame omgevouwen; want zeg nou zelf, af en toe zie je toch landschappen die er uit zien als een schilderijtje? Vandaar dit ideetje.

I made a kind of painting and put it on an easel. I stamped and gold embossed the edges and put them round the card; sometimes you get to see autumn landscapes that look like paintings, don't they? Hence the idea.

En dit is Odetta's geweldige bijdrage, een volledig in herfstsferen omgetoverd mini-canvasje, kijk nou hoe schattig die eekhoorn zit te genieten! Kleine pareltjes, kraaltjes en kaneel vormen een prachtige omlijsting, prachtig toch, die warme uitstraling??

And this is Odetta's magnificent contribution, a completely altered mini canvas, don't you just love the atmosphere and look! See how that cute little squirrel is enjoying himself? Tiny pearls, beads and cinnamon embellish the frame, this really looks superb, doesn't it?

 En zelfs aan de achterkant is gedacht (of eigenlijk is dit de oorspronkelijke voorzijde), voorzien van schitterend stempelwerk. Bedankt Odetta voor deze onwijs leuke swap weer, ik kijk nou al uit naar de volgende over een paar maanden en wat jij dan voor ons bedenkt!

And Odetta even thought of decorating the back (or rather, this is the original front) with some fine stamping art. Thanks Odetta for another fun swap, I'm already looking forward to the next one in a couple of months from now and can't wait to hear what you come up with!

From My Crafty Heart

Ik kom op dit moment helaas tijd tekort om jullie blogs direct te bezoeken, het kan dus wel eens een dagje (of twee) later worden, maar ik kom langs hoor! Vandaag twee kaarten, deze heb ik gemaakt voor de verjaardag van Lynne die gisteren jarig was, nogmaals van harte proficiat!! Ball at the Moulin Rouge

Toen ik deze afbeelding op Deviantart tegenkwam, had ik op de één of andere manier direct het beeld van de Moulin Rouge voor me, een meisje voor het eerst alleen in de grote stad Parijs, op zoek naar nieuw geluk. Dit dametje heeft de mazzel dat ze er zo leuk uit ziet, ze kan nl. zó aan de slag in de Moulin Rouge, als danseres, maar ze is nog aan het twijfelen... Ik heb haar ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft, het papier is van Prima Marketing (Moulin Rouge, hoe kan het ook anders?). Nog wat grove stiksteken om de rand met de hand genaaid. De grote bloem is zelfgemaakt met de retroponsen.
When I saw this pretty girl on Deviantart I somehow immediately envisaged the Moulin Rouge. She's a young girl, all alone in the big city of Paris, looking for new happiness. This little lady is fortunate for having such good looks, she's about to be employed as a dancer, but she's still doubting... I coloured her with my Derwent Coloursoft pencils, papers are from Prima Marketing (Yes, Moulin Rouge, indeed!). I handstitched the entire page rather coarsely and made the large flower with my retro punches:

Degenen die mijn blog al een tijdje volgen, weten dat ik nogal van het 'pimpen' ben. Ik was pas geleden mijn kast eens aan het opruimen, een kleine voorjaarsschoonmaak zeg maar, toen ik deze oude schoenen tegenkwam:
Those of you that have been following my blog for some time now, know that I love to alter things. I was recently cleaning out my cupboard, did a bit of "spring cleaning" so to speak and came across these old shoes:

Nou vond ik het zonde om ze zomaar weg te doen en het leek me wel grappig om er een gezellig nieuw nestje van te maken en dit is het uiteindelijk geworden, heb er lila veren op gelijmd, doilies gebruikt, de bloem op de hak is gemaakt met een nieuwe stans van Kreaxion, voor de medaillon heb ik een fotootje uitgeknipt van een dame en afgelakt met Glossy Accents. Oh ja, ik moest de binnenkant van de schoen eerst nog een paar keer verven met paarse parelmoerverf. Laat de nieuwe bewoners maar komen ;-)

I thought it would be such a waste just to get rid of them and wanted to turn one of them into a cosy bird's nest, this is how it finally turned out. I glued purple feathers all over the shoe, used doilies, made the flower on the heel with a new Kreaxion die, I cut out a small picture of a vintage lady and used Glossy Accents to give it a lovely shine. Oh and I also needed to paint the inside of the shoe with purple mother of pearl paint. The nest is ready for some new inhabitants ;-)

Maar ja, je weet hoe dat gaat, als je één ding tegen komt, dan liggen er vaak ook nog wel andere dingen waar je iets mee kunt; en dat was ook het geval met een paar gipsen eieren die ik vorig jaar gratis bij het Kruidvat meekreeg. Ze zijn eigenlijk bedoeld om te beschilderen, heb ze dan ook eerst een paar laagjes vanille acrylverf meegegeven en ben ze toen aan het versieren gegaan, niet al te netjes en precies, omdat ik ze wel een wat 'shabby' look wou meegeven. Omdat ik een groot fan ben van Jane Austen, heb ik in de loop der jaren heel wat plaatjes verzameld, hier heb ik er een paar van gebruikt. Het achtergrondpapier is van Prima Marketing.

But you know how these things go, if you come across one thing, you'll bound to find other things that you can work with. I got these plaster eggs for free last year at Kruidvat's (a Dutch drugstore). They're meant to be painted, so I first added a few layers of vanilla coloured acrylic paint and then started to embellish them, not too neat and precise, I wanted to have them a slightly 'shabby' look. Since I'm an ardent fan of Jane Austen, I've piled up quite a few images of which I used a couple. DP is from Prima Marketing.

The First Blooms of Spring

Enig om te lezen waar jullie het liefste heen gaan met de vakantie, bedankt voor jullie enthousiaste reacties! Voorlopig wordt er eerst vakantie gevierd in de achtertuin, is het nu goed vertoeven met die schitterende bloesems. Onze magnolia staat volop in bloei, de seringen komen uit en de pruimenbomen zijn helaas al weer op hun retour. Ik word gewoon blij van al die bloemen en daarom mochten ze ook niet ontbreken op deze verjaardagskaart die bestemd is voor blogvriendinnetje Annemarie die morgen jarig is, maar mijn kaart al heeft ontvangen ;-) Het achtergrondpapier is van Prima Marketing (Meadow Lark) en is te verkrijgen bij My Crafty Heart. Omdat de kleine Sarah op haar blote voetjes loopt, heb ik maar een bloemenbedje voor haar gemaakt van Flower Soft (My Crafty Heart), dat loopt lekker zacht!
I really enjoyed reading about your favourite holiday destinations, thanks for your enthusiastic reactions! For the time being our backyard is where we'll be celebrating our holidays. Such a wonderful place to be right now with all these wonderful blossoming trees. Our Magnolia tree is in full bloom, the lilac tree is about to show its magnificent flowers and unfortunately the prune trees no longer share their blossoms with us. All these flowers make me happy, that's why I definitely needed flowers on this birthday card which I made for my blog buddy Annemarie who'll be celebrating her birthday tomorrow (but she's already received my card ;-) Background papers are from Prima Marketing (Meadow Lark) and is available at My Crafty Heart. Because little Sarah is walking barefoot I made a flower bed for her out with Flower Soft (My Crafty Heart), which is nice and soft for her feet!

From Holland with love

Voor een hele goede (buitenlandse) vriendin van me heb ik deze oerhollandse kaart gemaakt. Uiteraard in onze nationale driekleur ;-) Het meisje vond ik hier, heb haar met Derwent Coloursoft potloden ingekleurd en een beetje een Volendams uiterlijk proberen mee te geven. De bloemen zijn gemaakt met de retroponsen en verder heb ik stanzen van Marianne Design and Crealies gebruikt. Speculaas is natuurlijk toch wel iets typisch nederlands en ik zag deze bakvorm (in de vorm van een molen), dus die heb ik meegestuurd, kan m'n vriendin zelf aan het bakken en genieten van de lekkere geur in haar keuken!
For a really close (foreign) friend of mine I made this Dutch card. Of course in our national colours, red, white, blue ;-) I found the girl here, coloured her with Derwent Coloursoft pencils and tried to give her the "Volendam feel". I made the flowers with retro punches, furthermore I used dies from Marianne Design and Crealies. Spiced brown biscuits are a typically Dutch treat and when I found this wooden baking mould (in the shape of a Dutch windmill) I just had to include it in my parcel so that my friend can enjoy the lovely smell while baking the biscuits in her kitchen!

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Het duurt nog maar een paar dagen en dan is het zover: dan opent de ongelooflijk talentvolle Teresa haar online scrapbookwinkel "My Crafty Heart"! Op 14 januari a.s. is het zover en kunnen jullie o.a. haar schitterende digi-stempels aanschaffen! Eén van die digi-stempels heb ik hier gebruikt, ze heet MCH Fairy en maakt deel uit van het logo van My Crafty Heart . Omdat we een onwijs leuk team hebben, heb ik me vanaf meet af aan "thuis" gevoeld dus was het ook niet meer dan vanzelfsprekend dat ik dit elfje in haar eigen huisje heb geplaatst :-) In ons MCH-honk heerst een superaangename sfeer waar ieder DT-lid haar eigen ding kan doen, net als thuis dus! Ik vind het geweldig om van dit team deel uit te mogen maken. We kunnen geen betere gastvrouw hebben dan Teresa! Deze is dan ook speciaal voor haar, om haar succes toe te wensen met haar webwinkel. Hier alvast een klein voorproefje:

It will only be a couple of days before the incredibly talented Teresa opens her own online papercraft store "My Crafty Heart"! Coming January 14th you'll be able to purchase a wide variety of beautiful items, among which her gorgeous digi stamps! I used one of Teresa's digi stamps; her name is MCH Fairy and is part of MCH's logo. Since we have a really fantastic team, I immediately felt completely at home. That's why I wanted to place this little fairy inside her own home :-) Our MCH-team has a great atmosphere, each DT member can create in her own style, just like home! Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt

Voor alweer mijn 3e week als Guest Designer bij Scrolls Work blijf ik lekker in de Paassfeer, ik heb een eierdoosje gepimpt en gekozen voor de geweldig leuke stempel van Peter (#3526). Ten eerste omdat ik dol op konijnen ben en ten tweede omdat hij zo'n gewéldige 19e eeuwse kleding draagt!! Ik zat nog te twijfelen, zal ik hem een Burberry jasje aangeven, maar heb toch gekozen voor het papier van Prima Marketing. Het is Peter gelukt alle 6 verstopte eieren te vinden!

For my 3rd week as Guest Designer over at Scrolls Work, I stick with the Easter theme. I pimped an egg box and picked the super cute stamp of Peter (#3526). First because rabbits are simply my favourite animals and secondly because he's wearing such marvellous 19th century clothes!! I was doubting whether to give him the Burberry style, but then decided to go with the lovely Prima Marketing papers instead. Peter succeeded in finding all of the 6 hidden eggs!

Lente - Spring

Wat was het de afgelopen dagen toch lekker weer! De lente zit al duidelijk in de lucht!! Op de één of andere manier zie ik de lente altijd als een nieuw begin, je ziet de bloemknoppen uitkomen en de tuin wordt al wat groener. Wie ook een nieuw begin heeft gemaakt, zijn ons nichtje en haar vriend, zij zijn pas in hun nieuwe huis getrokken en stuurden onderstaande verhuiskaart. Als ik vroeger huisjes tekende, waren dat altijd omgekeerde hartjes met raampjes erop of van die Sarah Kay schoenen, dus daar wou ik iets mee doen. Het is uiteindelijk dus het omgekeerde hartje geworden. En het papier van Eline's Huis paste perfect bij hun eigen kaart! Nog een bosje sleutels erbij en ze kunnen naar binnen!

We've had some lovely weather the past few days! Spring is already near! Somehow spring equals new beginnings, flowers are budding and the garden is getting greener every day. Who also made a new beginning is our niece and her boyfriend, they recently moved into their new house and sent us the above card. I used to draw houses when I was much much younger, and they usually always were little upside down hearts or those big Sarah Kay shoes. So I decided it had to be either one of those. I decided upon the heart. And Eline's Huis papers match their own card quite well! A bunch of keys and they're ready to enter!

Chinese New Year - The Year of the Rabbit

Bij ons in de straat woont een Chinese familie die ons ieder jaar een kerstkaart stuurt en wij sturen hen op onze buurt weer een nieuwjaarskaart. Omdat het dit jaar het jaar van het konijn is én dit ook nog eens mijn lievelingsdier is, mocht een konijntje dus niet ontbreken! Ik heb de vorm van het konijn uitgeknipt uit rood glanskarton, deze door de embossing folder (chinese lantaarns-Oriental Weave) gehaald voor het effect. Voor de achtergrond heb ik een stuk Chinese stof gebruikt. De tak is een creatable stans van Marianne Design. 
There's a Chinese family who lives down our street and who sends us a Christmas card every year, so we're sending them Happy New Year cards in return. Since 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit and the rabbit is my favourite animal I put one up on this card! I cut out the shape of a rabbit of red glossy cardstock, ran it through my embossing folder (Chinese lanterns-Oriental Weave) for a more detailed effect. For the background I used a piece of original Chinese fabric. The branch is a creatable die from Marianne Design.

Herfstbladeren - Autumn leaves

Ik zit hier met een heerlijk glaasje rode wijn dit berichtje te schrijven. De tijd van droge witte wijn en rosé is helaas weer voorbij. De herfst doet weer zo'n beetje zijn intrede, ik ben zelf meer een zomermens, maar goed, we maken wel weer iets gezelligs van de nieuwe seizoenen! Heb dus vanmorgen heerlijk zitten freubelen en deze herfstdame gemaakt. Ik heb haar gevonden op Deviant Art, zo'n ongelooflijk prachtige website! Ze is ingekleurd met Distress Inkt en de tag zelf is gekleurd met Viva Decor (papersoft colour mosgroen). Toen de inkt nog nat was, heb ik hier wat goud embossing poeder overheen gestrooid en verhit. Daarna gestempeld (stempels zijn ook van Viva Decor) met diverse kleuren Versamagic.

Een echte dame heeft natuurlijk een handtasje bijpassend bij haar kleding :-) De tasbeugel vond ik tussen allerlei gebroken sierraad- onderdelen en zo ook de ketting die ze draagt. De blaadjes zijn allemaal geponst (o.a. Spellbinders, Marianne Design en Nellie Snellen). I'm sitting here writing and enjoying a wonderful glass of red wine. The time of dry white wines and rosé has passed, I'm afraid. Autumn is gradually taking over. I'm more of a summer person myself, but hey, we'll enjoy the seasons to come as well! I've been working on Mrs. Autumn this morning. I found her on Deviant Art, such an incredible website! I coloured her with Distress Ink and the tag itself is coloured with Viva Decor (papersoft colour moss green). While the ink was still wet, I sprinkled a little bit of gold embossing powder on the tag and heat embossed it. I stamped it afterwards (stamps are also from Viva Decor) with several colours of Versamagic. A real lady has a purse that fits her outfit :-) I found the purse frame in a box where I keep all my broken jewelry as well as the necklace. The leaves are all punched (a.o. Spellbinders, Marianne Design and Nellie Snellen).
