Favourite Films...

We vonden het weer hoog tijd voor een nieuwe swap, Odetta en ik! Dit keer was ik weer aan de beurt om het thema te bepalen en ik heb gekozen voor "je favoriete film/boek op een tag". Nou, dat viel bij mij nog niet mee, want ik vind zóveel films en boeken mooi! En om nou alwéér uit te komen bij Pride and Prejudice? Jemig, er zijn behoorlijk wat markante films uitgebracht, denk aan "Shadowlands", "The Remains of the Day" en "Legends of the Fall", van de week nog van genoten! Maar toen ik een blauw plakhartje tegenkwam in mijn hobbykamer wist ik voor welke film ik zou kiezen, "Titanic"! Om dit blauwe sieraad moest het draaien, het speelt zo'n belangrijke rol in de film en ja, zeg nou zelf, het is toch ook gewoon een práchtig verhaal? Dus heb ik het hartje als het ware "verankerd" aan het schip. Het was heel erg moeilijk om de diepte te fotograferen, maar ik hoop dat jullie kunnen zien dat de voorsteven van het schip echt naar voren komt. Heb rondom het hartje allemaal kleine plakpareltjes geplakt en nog iets meer bling toegevoegd om de grandeur van het schip destijds te benadrukken. 

 Odetta and I thought it was about time for a new swap again! This time I got to set the theme and I chose "your favourite film/book on a tag". Well, I had no idea what I got myself into! For there are so many films and books I love! And I didn't think it would be very original to go for "Pride and Prejudice" again! Gosh, there have been quite some majestic films, how about "Shadowlands", "The Remains of the Day" and "Legends of the Fall", I enjoyed watching this last film again last week! But the moment I found a blue sticky heart in my craft room I immediately knew which film it was going to be, "Titanic"! I wanted the tag to evolve around this blue piece of jewelry, it plays such a significant part in the film. And after all, it is a truly magnificent story, isn't it? So I placed the heart as a kind of anchor to the ship. It was very difficult to photograph the 3D effect of the ship's bow. Around the heart I added lots of sticky pearls and added even more bling to emphasize the grandeur of this huge ship:

Blijf nog even hangen op m'n blog, want jullie moeten natuurlijk ook zien wat voor heerlijks Odetta heeft gemaakt, oh, je krijgt hier toch spontaan zin in chocolade van? Of in Johnny Depp ha ha ha! Het moge duidelijk zijn, de film waar Odetta voor heeft gekozen is "Chocolat". En kijk even naar het midden van de bloem, ja ja, een mini choco-cakje zit erin! Bedankt voor alweer een supergave swap Odetta! Op naar de volgende ;-)

You girls stick around a bit longer now, because you really have to see the scrummy tag that Odetta made me, oh, doesn't this make you LONG for chocolate? Or for Johnny Depp for that matter, LOL! It goes without saying that the film Odetta chose is called "Chocolat". Check out the flower centre, yes, you're looking at a tiny chocolate cake here ;-) Thanks for another wonderful swap Odetta, already looking forward to the next one ;-)

Styles Change, Style Doesn't

We hadden weer zin in een swap en het thema van Steampunk is dit keer door Odetta bedacht. Wat is dit toch een aparte stijl, die prachtige Victoriaanse invloeden spreken me enorm aan! Ik heb gekozen voor een uitgeknipte hoge gepimpte hoed en vond het Graphic45 Steampunk Debutante papier hier buitengewoon geschikt voor. Heb een soort corsetje gemaakt en natuurlijk mogen de verschillende metaalelementen niet ontbreken! De opgerolde bloemen zijn gemaakt met de stans Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One die bij My Crafty Heart voor een hele scherpe prijs leverbaar is. Binnenin wat grote parels. Heb nog een vrouwenkopje uitgeknipt en in een brad geplaatst en voorzien van een laklaag (Glossy Accents (Ranger). De tekststempel is van Scrollswork.
We felt like another swap and the theme of Steampunk was set by Odetta this time. Oh, I just love this style, I'm really very partial to those fine Victorian influences! I made an embellished top hat which was cut by hand and used the most appropriate papers of Graphic 45 (Steampunk Debutante). I made a kind of corset and added all kinds of metal embellies. The rolled up flowers were made with the Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One die, which is available from My Crafty Heart at an extremely competitive price! Inside some huge pearls. I've also cut out a female head, placed it inside a brad and applied some Glossy Accents (Ranger) to it. The text stamp is from Scrollswork.

Your Wings Already Exist, All You Have To Do Is Fly...

Vlinders maken een wonderlijke ontwikkeling door, van rups tot hun uiteindelijke schoonheid. Zo is het met veel mensen ook, iedereen moet soms door moeilijke fasen heen, maar het is aan jou of je de kracht, moed en hoop hebt om uit je cocon te breken. Soms is hier lef voor nodig, meestal gewoon de liefde van de mensen om je heen. Mijn inspiratie voor deze vlinderdame kwam uit deze gedachte voort. Ieder mens is mooi en uniek, ieder mens heeft het in zich om te stralen (gesymboliseerd door de stralenkrans om het hoofd van deze dame heen). Ieder mens heeft een bepaalde levensstijl waar hij of zij gelukkig van wordt. Durf te vliegen!! Deze vlinderdame is inmiddels al op weg naar een jarige blogvriendin.
The pupal transformation into a butterfly is quite remarkable: from caterpillar to enormous beauty. Much the same goes for us people, too, everyone of us sometimes have difficult stages in life to go through, but it is up to you whether you have the strength, courage and hope to break out of your cocoon. Sometimes this takes a lot of guts, usually "just" the love of people around you. My inspiration for this Butterfly Lady came from this philosophy. Every human being is beautiful and unique, every human being has the power to radiate (symbolized by the halo around this lady's head). Every human being has a certain life style that makes her or him happy. Dare to fly!! This butterfly lady is already on its way to a blog buddy who's celebrating her birthday soon.

Mijn zwager heeft onlangs een prachtig nieuw pand betrokken waarin hij zijn bedrijf heeft gevestigd. Omdat hij graag golft, heb ik deze kaart voor hem gemaakt. De tekst "Hole in one" heb ik heel eenvoudig in Powerpoint gemaakt, vond dit wel een toepasselijke tekst om hem veel succes toe te wensen. Op de achterzijde staat o.a. "keep hitting the green"; hij moet immers slagvaardig blijven!! Ik heb voor deze kaart het papier van Graphic45, A Proper Gentleman (Sporting Aristocrat), Communique (Typographer en Classy Correspondence) gebruikt.
My brother-in-law recently established his company in a fabulous new building. As he loves to play golf I made him this card to wish him the best of luck. Graphic 45 Le Romantique

Voor Graphic 45 heb ik nog iets gemaakt met hun prachtige Le Romantique papier. Ik heb het dansend paar uit "Sweetheart of Mine" geknipt en op een vlinder geplakt. Bij het zien van het papier had ik diverse gedachten: lente, je liefde geeft me vleugels, huwelijk. Het is van zichzelf al zo mooi dat het niet veel nodig heeft om er iets mee te doen. De kleine vlindertjes leenden zich perfect voor een grotere. Ik heb een 19e eeuwse rok gemaakt van 4 lagen kant. Lees meer op Graphic 45.

For Graphic45 I made something out of their gorgeous Le Romantique paper. I cut out the dancing couple of  "Sweetheart of Mine" and fixed them on a large butterfly. When I saw this paper for the first time I was thinking spring, your love is giving me wings, wedding. The paper itself doesn't need that much, it's sooooo pretty as it is. The small butterflies enhance the big one. I made a 19th century train skirt out of 4 layers of lace. Read more on Graphic 45.

Graphic 45 in Wonderland

Ik liep al een hele tijd rond met het idee om "iets" met Alice in Wonderland te gaan doen en daarvoor vond ik het Graphic 45 papier Playtimes Past erg geschikt. Ik heb ook nog Fashionista    ("Perfumeries") gebruikt.
M'n bedoeling was om het geheel eruit te laten zien als een boek. Ik heb diverse quotes gebruikt (de uitspraak op de rug van het boek is van Alice) en de klok aan de voorzijde (quote is van Mr. Rabbit). De bloem links- onder is gemaakt met m'n scallop nestabilities (papier is "Childs Play").
De koningin is geembost met de Cuttlebug folder "Queen of Hearts". Ik heb hiervoor cardstock gebruikt die ik vervolgens weer heb beinkt met diverse kleuren. De klok is een "Playtimes Past Tag", ik heb hier wordart omheen verwerkt.
Ik wou de binnenkant eruit laten zien als een geheime tuin. En achter het grote huis gaat de wereld van Alice schuil. Twee kleine nieuwsgierige snoetjes kijken naar buiten om te zien wie er op bezoek komt. Ik heb Alice op het theekopje (van the Graphics Fairy) geplaatst en heb diverse items uit haar Wonderland geplaatst. Jammer genoeg was het boek te klein om er nog meer in te plaatsen. Alice en Mr. Rabbit zijn kleurplaten die ik heb ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft.

I wanted to “do something” with the Alice in Wonderland theme all along, and I found that the Playtimes Past papers worked wonders for me.   I also used scraps of Fashionista ("Perfumeries").I specifically wanted to have the outside look like a book; I even used several famous quotes (book spine, quote is Alice’s) and clock embellishment on the front of the book (quote is Mr. Rabbit’s).  I made the flower in the left bottom corner by using my scallop nestabilities (paper is "Childs Play") and folding the petals together.The queen is embossed with the cuttlebug folder Queen of Hearts, I used cardstock which I inked with several colours.  The clock embellishment is a Playtimes Past Tag, I worked circular word art around it.In my view the inside should be somehow like a secret garden. And the main house hides what lies beneath, Alice’s world. Two curious faces are looking outside to see who’s coming to visit them and their secrets. I placed Alice on a teacup (from the Graphics Fairy) and tried to insert several symbols of her Wonderland, but since it’s only a small book I couldn’t put anything else in there anymore.  Alice and Mr. Rabbit are coloring pages, I used Derwent coloursoft pencils to color them.

Graphic 45 March Guest Designer

Enkele maanden geleden ben ik door Candy Rosenberg van Graphic45 benaderd om March Guest Designer te worden en nu is het dan zover. Als kick-off heb ik met het prachtige Fashionista papier dit Victoriaanse laarsje, handtasje en bijpassende tag gemaakt. Ik heb nu eenmaal "iets" met schoenen (zie voorgaande posts), ach ja, als je bijnaam "Imelda" is, dan zal dat wel kloppen! 
Ik ben nog bezig met een paar andere items, uiteraard ook gemaakt met behulp van Graphic45 papier, maar dat zien jullie binnenkort wel! Kijk voor het volledige artikel door Susan Dupre op Graphic45 (en laat je ook inspireren door de vele andere schitterende werken van collega's).

A few months ago Candy Rosenberg of Graphic45 asked me if I would like to become their March Guest Designer and I accepted that invitation with pleasure. As a kick-off I used the fabulous Fashionista paper to create this Victorian fashion boot, purse and matching tag. I simply love shoes (see previous posts) and oh well, if your nickname is "Imelda", then that's probably the case, LOL!
