Books Make The World Go Around...

Toen ik van Ignacio van Nicecrane Designs weer wat mooie plaatjes uit de collectie Little Picture Songs kreeg om mee te werken, was ik meteen geraakt door de afbeelding die ik hier heb gebruikt. Waarom vragen jullie je misschien af? Nou, mijn ouders stimuleerden ons heel erg om vooral veel te lezen, om onze fantasie te gebruiken. En daarbij verzon mijn vader altijd de leukste verhalen voor het slapen gaan (die dan vaak gingen over een ondernemend konijntje en haar avonturen, en ja, jullie raden het vast al: dat konijntje was ik ha ha ha!) Dus deze afbeelding bracht hele dierbare herinneringen bij me naar boven. Ben nu nog een enorme leesfanaat. Wat ligt er trouwens bij jullie op het nachtkastje? Ik ben momenteel "Rasputin's Shadow" aan het lezen van Raymond Khoury, heerlijk spannend en mysterieus! Afijn, om nu niet meteen een heel boek te gaan schrijven, ik heb dus een boekenrol gemaakt (van een oude lintspoel). Er gingen meer origami miniboekjes in dan ik dacht! Wát een vouwwerk zeg ;-) Ik heb de afbeelding ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft.

 When Ignacio from Nicecrane Designs sent me some lovely images from the Little Picture Songs collection I was immediately smitten with the image I have used here. You may wonder why? Well, my parents used to stimulate us tremendously to read, to use our imagination. And my father used to invent the best of bedtime stories. He would often tell tales of this enterprising little bunny and her adventures. You probably would have guessed that this little bunny was me, lol! So this particular image brings back very sweet memories. I still am an ardent reader. By the way, would you like to share with me what you are currently reading? I'm reading "Rasputin's Shadow" by Raymond Khoury at the mo, it's exhilarating and mysterious! Well, let's stop writing complete novels here and let me tell you what I did: I altered an old ribbon spool and added lots of origami mini booklets (gosh, there's more of them than I'd expected ;-) Took me ages to fold them all ;-) I coloured this image with Derwent Coloursoft.

10 little fingers and 10 little toes...

Ha ha! En nu hoor ik jullie al denken, is ze, zou ze??? Daarover straks meer, het is nu eerst tijd voor de tweemaandelijkse swap met mijn vriendin Odetta die ditmaal het thema heeft bepaald. Ze stuurde me een blanco zakje toe met de opdracht deze te versieren en er een kleinigheidje in te stoppen. Hieronder mijn uitvoering, heb het papier van Eline's Huis gebruikt, wat blijft dat toch mooi! En omdat ik zo dol op cameo's ben, mocht deze hier niet ontbreken.
He he! I can already hear you girls thinking, is she, would she be??? I'll tell you all about it later, it's now time for the bi-monthly swap with my friend Odetta who has set the theme. She sent me a small bag to decorate and to put a little something inside. Here's my contribution for which I used the papers from Eline's Huis. Just love those papers! And since I'm so fond of cameos I couldn't go without one here. 

 Ik heb er wat handgemaakte ornamentjes ingestopt, van klei gemaakt en m.b.v. een stempel van Marianne Design:

 En kijk eens wat voor een geweldige verrassing Odetta voor mij had? Schitterende zeekleuren, ik vind ze prachtig, met mooie kleine schelpjes versierd en zien jullie die lieve 

kleine zeepaardjes? Schattig toch? Bedankt voor deze geweldige swap Odetta! Hij was weer supergaaf om te doen!

And look at the wonderful surprise Odetta had for me? Those amazing sea colours which I love, adorned with beautiful tiny shells and aren't the sea horses adorable?? Thanks again for this great swap Odetta! I enjoyed myself immensely!

Goed, ik ben jullie nu nog wat uitleg verschuldigd natuurlijk n.a.v. m'n blogtitel. Heel goed nieuws, heel blij nieuws! Er is familieuitbreiding op komst! Ja ja! Alleen niet bij ons, maar bij mijn neef en z'n vriendin! Wij vinden het allemaal geweldig en zijn superblij voor hen! En ook m'n kleine nichtje Phoebe van 6, die wist het werkelijk zo ontroerend mooi te verwoorden, ze zei tegen m'n zus: "mama, in mijn hartje zit al mijn liefde voor mijn hele familie en ik heb nog meer dan genoeg voor het nieuwe babietje". Hier smelt je hart toch van? En natuurlijk heb ik voor hen ook iets gemaakt, dit babyalbumpje met van die lieve kleine kousjes erin:

Allright, I owe you girls an explanation about my blog title. I've got some very good news, some very happy news! There's going to be a new addition to the family! Oh yes! And no, it's not my DH and I, but my cousin and his girlfriend! We're all so excited and thrilled for the both of them! My darling 6-year-old niece Phoebe really gave such a touching expression to her feelings, she told my sister (her mother):"mummy, my little heart contains all the love for my entire family and I've got more than plenty left for the little baby". Doesn't this make you melt? Of course I already made them a little something, this baby albumcard containing some cute little socks:

Let's celebrate spring with My Crafty Heart

Heerlijk! De lente is in aantocht! Had dan ook echt zin om iets te maken om de lente te 'vieren'! Ik had al heel lang een blauw vogelkooitje liggen dat ik ooit eens bij de Action heb gekocht. Ik heb deze met spuitlak een beetje wit gespoten (lak die lekker snel droogt, dus je kunt vrij snel verder!) en verder versierd. Het papier dat ik voor de bloemen heb gebruikt is van Prima Marketing (My Mind's Eye Be Happy) in combinatie met de Tattered Florals stans van Tim Holtz. Het prachtige vogeltje is van Prima Marketing. Het bedje van donsveertjes is ook al gelegd. En ik kon het niet nalaten om toch nog een klein miniboekje te maken met de verhaaltjes van Moeder de Gans ;-) I love it when spring is nearly there! Really felt like making something to 'celebrate' spring! This blue birdcage has been in my possession for quite a while now and I spray painted it white (not too much though, since I still wanted that shade of blue). I used Prima Marketing papers (My Mind's Eye Be Happy) for the flowers which are made with Tim Holtz' Tattered Florals. The lovely resin bird is from Prima Marketing. A feathered bed is already made. And I just couldn't resist making another mini booklet with the stories of Mother Goose ;-)

De kerstman vertelt - Santa´s Stories

Een warm welkom voor mijn nieuwe volgsters, leuk dat jullie mijn blog hebben weten te vinden! Van de week heb ik gekeken naar de film "Inkheart" naar het boek van de Duitse Cornelia Funke. Ik had haar boek al eerder gelezen en was betoverd door haar geweldige vertelwijze. Zij is onwetend van dit alles de inspiratie geweest van mijn Kerstboek. Voor degenen die dit geweldige verhaal nog niet kennen: het gaat over een meisje van wie de vader het talent heeft om personages uit een boek tot leven te wekken; op een dag haalt hij gemene karakters uit het boek, maar tegelijkertijd verdwijnt zijn vrouw in hetzelfde boek! Een spannend en fantasievol verhaal! Mijn kerstman is nu dus ook uit zijn boek gekomen :-) Het papier dat ik heb gebruikt is van My Mind's Eye, de kerstman is weer een tekening van Phee Mc Faddell en is ingekleurd met Distress Inkt.

Last week I enjoyed watching the film "Inkheart", after the book of the German author Cornelia Funke. I read her book a couple of years ago and was impressed and enchanted by her writing skills. She has been the inspiration to my Christmas book. For those of you who are not familiar with the story: it's about a young girl whose father has the ability to read characters out of their books and bring them to life. One day he 'frees' villains by reading out loud, but at the same time his wife disappears into the book! An exciting fantasy story! My Santa came out of his storybook, too ;-) Papers used are My Mind's Eye, Santa is another gorgeous drawing by Phee Mc Faddell and is coloured with distress inks.

Ik ben dol op de tekeningen van Phee McFaddell, vooral op haar elfjes. Deze boekkaart heb ik gemaakt voor een hele goede vriendin van me om haar te bedanken voor haar vriendschap, er komt nog een cadeautje in, maar dat laat ik hier niet zien omdat ze m'n blog ook volgt ;-) Het elfje is ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft (ook het witte gedeelte). Het papier is van de Action, de bloem is gemaakt met stanzen van Sizzix (sneeuwvlok) en Cheery Lynn Designs Cherry Blossom. Een beetje True Snow maakt het af.
I love the drawings of Phee McFaddell, particularly her fairies. I made this book box for a very good friend of mine to thank her for her friendship. I will put in a small gift, but I can't show you that here since she's following my blog, too ;-) I coloured the fairy with Derwent  Coloursoft (also the white part). I bought the papers at the Action, the flower is made with dies of Sizzix (snowflake) and Cheery Lynn Designs Cherry Blossom. I added a little bit of True Snow on the petals.

Lente! Spring!

Het is weer lente! Ik voel me altijd net zo'n blij schaap wanneer de zon schijnt en de bloemetjes weer beginnen op te komen! Dat moet gevierd en wel met dit boek dat ik voor mijn tante heb gemaakt. Het papier van Prima Marketing (Celebrate Jack and Jill) was hier wel geschikt voor! Het is weer op dezelfde manier gemaakt als hier uitgelegd. In het boekje zit een geurhart. Ik ben trouwens door Trishia van French Kissed Postcards gevraagd als Guest Designer voor april, vanaf volgende week zal ik iedere vrijdag iets plaatsen, gemaakt met materiaal dat door haar beschikbaar is gesteld.
It's finally spring! I always feel like a happy sheep jumping for joy, the sun is shining and the flowers are starting to bloom again. This calls for a celebration, so I made a little spring book for my aunt. These Prima Marketing papers (Celebrate Jack and Jill) are perfect I think. The little book was made the same way as explained in this post. I put a perfumed heart inside the book. By the way, Trishia from French Kissed Postcards has asked me to be her Guest Designer for April. As of Friday next I'll be posting a little something.
