"Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"

En nou denken jullie vast "hé, dat gaat over die beroemde ontdekkingsreiziger!" Deze gevleugelde woorden zijn destijds gesproken door Henry Morton Stanley, de bekende expeditieleider in Afrika. Tja, in de tijd dat hij en Dr. Livingstone elkaar leerden kennen, moest de wereld nog zo'n beetje worden ontdekt. Nu ziet alles er heel anders uit, de wereld is zo groot en tegelijkertijd zo klein. Binnen een paar seconden is de hele wereld van het nieuws op de hoogte, maar je hebt veel meer tijd nodig om de wereld te zien. Zo wil ik nog heel graag naar Nieuw-Zeeland bijv. en zou ik graag leren kantklossen ;-) Wat willen jullie nog ontdekken? Voor manlief zijn verjaardag deze kaart gemaakt. Ben begonnen een distress-achtergrond te maken en daarna lekker met gesso, stencils en stempels aan de gang gegaan. Oh, dit is trouwens Stanley:

 And now you're probably thinking "hey, those are the words of that famous explorer!" Indeed, these words were spoken by Henry Morton Stanley, the renowned expedition leader in Africa. Well, during the days he and Dr. Livingstone met, the world had more or less yet to be explored. That most certainly has changed, hasn't it? The world is so big and yet so small... Within a few seconds you know exactly what's going on in the world, but you need so much more time in order to see it all! I for one would love to visit New Zealand for example, and I'd like to learn how to make lace! Care to divulge what's on your wish lists?

I made this card for my husband's upcoming birthday and started out to distress the background. I then took out my gesso, stamps and stencils and finished the rest. Oh, shoot, I forgot to introduce Stanley by the way ;-)

Ook zo lekker genoten van het heerlijke zonnetje vandaag? Beetje fris nog, maar de lente is in aantocht! Vorige week heb ik via een FB-groep een paar superleuke stempels aangeschaft van deze konijntjes, vond ze zó leuk en al helemaal omdat het van die schattige Victoriaantjes zijn ;-) Ze wonen onder een bloemige theekop, familie Konijn. Ma is dol op bloemen, was nog wel een strijd want Pa vond een bloemige theekop toch wel iets teveel van het goede, maar ja, alles voor de liefde hè? 

Hope you enjoyed the sun today? It was a bit nippy every now and then, but spring is on its way! Last week I was able to purchase these adorable bunnies on FB, loved them instantly, especially since they're so Victorian ;-) They live underneath a flower teacup, the Rabbit Family. Mum loves flowers and she had to put up a bit of a fight, because Dad didn't think much of living underneath so many flowers, but hey, he does it all for love, right?

Zit nu heerlijk te luisteren naar die geweldige CD van Enrique Iglesias, "Sex and Love", zo blij dat die jongen niet op z'n pa lijkt, ha ha ha! Is maar goed dat jullie niet zin hoe ik hier achter m'n laptop zit, want stilzitten is er bij zijn muziek niet bij ;-) Vind muziek een zalige ontspanning na alweer een dag van stevig doorwerken ;-) Eén nadeel van veel werk, je hebt niet zoveel tijd om echt iets supergaafs te maken, vandaag dan ook twee hele simpele kaarten, de één in wit, de ander in het zwart:
I am thoroughly enjoying myself right now, for I'm listening to Enrique Iglesias's amazing album "Sex and Love". So glad the guy doesn't look like his dad, lol! You should see me sitting here behind my laptop, for I simply cannot sit still! Just love listening to music after another day of hard work ;-) One of the disadvantages of having so much work is having very little time to create something really cool.  En als contrast de zwarte verjaardagskaart voor mijn neef, de afbeelding is gestempeld en de tekst is met krijt-lettertypes op de achtergrond geprint:

Kleine meisjes worden groot... M'n nichtje (de oudste dochter van m'n zus) wordt vandaag alweer 12! En aangezien ik dan écht niet meer met iets zoetsappigs kan aankomen, moest het iets vlotters worden. Het is een echt dametje, houdt van nagellakjes én van shoppen (zal wel in de genen zitten, ha ha ha!), dus die Prima Marketing Doll kwam mooi van pas. Hierop allerlei diverse stansen verwerkt, van Poppystamps, Sizzix en Marianne Design tot aan Joy! Crafts. Nog wat Frantage op de hoekjes voor de finishing touch. Van harte proficiat lieve Gwynn!

Little girls grow up so fast... My niece (my sister's eldest daughter) is turning 12 today! And since I really cannot make a 'childish' card anymore, I needed something more sprucy. She's a regular little lady, loves her nailpolishes and shopping (must be a genetic disorder, lol!), so this Prima Marketing Doll really came in handy. I used all kinds of dies to embellish my card, from Poppystamps, Sizzix, Marianne Design to Joy! Crafts. I also added a bit of frantage to the corners. Happy Birthday to you dearest Gwynn!

Keep Calm And Eat Sushi...

Oh heerlijk hè? Sushi? Zoveel verschillende manieren om deze klaar te maken, met vlees, vis, groente, zalig! Voor mijn volgende kaart werd ik dus hierdoor geïnspireerd, had sushi gemaakt en zag in de la nog een paar gekleurde eetstokjes liggen die ik nou niet bepaald bij m'n Japanse tafel vond passen (want ja, ik vind zelf zwart met rood gecombineerd toch wel het mooiste ;-) En omdat ik zo'n slechte ben in het opruimen (lees weggooien) van dingen, besloot ik er maar een kaartje mee te maken met een afbeelding die ik op Deviantart heb gevonden en heb ingekleurd met potloden en stiften. De vorm van de kaart lijkt zo wel wat op een kimono, toch?

Do you like sushi? I think it's absolute bliss! So many different ways to prepare this, with meat, fish or vegetables. Yummy! I found my inspiration in this delicate dish. I made some sushi and found some green coloured chopsticks in one of my kitchen drawers. But since I wasn't going to use them (since I love to set my Japanese table in black combined with red) and I'm really lousy at throwing things away I decided to make a card with a lovely image found on Deviantart (coloured with pencils and markers). I tried to make the card look a bit like a kimono:

Ben normaal niet zo van 'cute', maar zo af en toe vind ik het wel leuk om te doen ;-)

I'm usually not that much into 'cute', but every now and then I like creating such cards ;-)

Welcome To My Boudoir

"Vandaag heet ik jullie van harte welkom in mijn boudoir. Normaliter laat ik geen buitenstaanders in mijn privévertrekken toe, maar dit is een uitzondering. Omdat het zondag is. Maar mijn hemel, waar zijn mijn manieren? Mag ik me even aan jullie voorstellen. Mijn naam is Rose Bryar, Lady Rose Bryar, welteverstaan. Jullie zullen ongetwijfeld mijn fijne, regelmatige trekken en enigszins arrogante blik hebben opgemerkt. Wel, die zouden wel eens misleidend kunnen zijn, ik mag dan weliswaar van aristocratische komaf zijn, ik ben me zeer wel bewust van veranderende tijden. Ook al ben ik altijd een groot voorstander van oude gewoonten geweest. Er gaat heden ten dage zoveel beleefheid en verfijndheid verloren. Daarom trek ik me graag regelmatig terug in mijn boudoir, een fijn vertrek waar ik ben omringd door parels, zilveren parfumflesjes en andere accessoires waar een echte dame niet zonder kan. Ik denk dat het hoog tijd wordt voor de thee, dus ik zal mijn kamermeisje roepen en vragen of hiervoor wil zorgdragen. Bedankt dat jullie wat tijd met me hebben doorgebracht in mijn boudoir vandaag."

Celebrate your Birthday or Walk the Plank ;-)

Voor manlief die binnenkort jarig is, deze boekrol gemaakt (of ja, misschien toch ook wel een beetje voor mezelf, want zeg nou zelf, zo'n mooie mannen kom je toch niet iedere dag tegen?!?). Hij is gek van de zee, havens en schepen (en ik van Gregory Peck ha ha ha!). Dit is 'm geworden:
I made this scroll for my DH who will be celebrating his birthday in a couple of days (oh well, perhaps a bit for myself as well, you don't come across handsome men like this every day now do you?!?) Hubby loves the sea, harbours and ships (and I'm very partial to Gregory Peck, LOL!). This is how it turned out:

Heb gewoon papier eerst bewerkt met Distress Inkt (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo en Dried Marigold). Hierop met Viva Decor Maritim gestempeld. Het is wel lastig hoor, om die boekrollen droog te houden op zee, die zilte druppels vliegen je op het dek soms om de oren ;-) (gewoon met de hand wat waterdruppels geknoeid, beetje Perfect Pearls erin voor de glans). Heb het oorspronkelijke blauwe roer een beetje goud gemaakt met embossing poeder, niet teveel, wou het blauw er nog doorheen laten komen:
I first applied Distress Ink to plain paper (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Dried Marigold). Stamps are from Viva Decor (Maritim). It's quite tricky you know, to keep those scrolls dry at sea with all this dripping saltwater onto the deck ;-) (just flick some water drips from your fingers, I first added some Perfect Pearls to add some shine). I added some gold embossing powder to the originally blue rudder, not too much, since I wanted bits of blue to remain there:

Touw en muntjes (oké, ze kloppen niet helemaal qua tijd, maar het waren zulke leuke muntjes ;-)
Rope and coins (I know, they're historically wrong, but hey, I simply liked them ;-)

Hello Sweet Baby Girl!

Zulk leuk nieuws! Mijn neef en z'n vriendin hebben een schattig, lief, klein babymeisje gekregen! En natuurlijk moest ik voor hen een kaartje maken, het is dit easelkaartje geworden:
Such wonderful news! My cousin and his girlfriend just had a darling, sweet, little baby girl! And of course I had to make them a card, I sent them this easel card:

 Wou het lekker meisjesachtig houden, zul je zien, wordt het later zo'n stoere motorchickie, ha ha ha! Wij genieten in elk geval in de familie voluit van dit kleine meisje erbij!

I wanted to keep it girly-girly, but who knows, she might turn into one of those cool motor chicks when she grows up, LOL! But our family and I are thoroughly enjoying this sweet little girl!

Black Velvet

Vandaag begint er weer een nieuwe uitdaging bij Vintage Udfordring, ééntje die jullie allemaal wel aanspreekt, "Alles mag". Na al mijn 3D-geweld van de afgelopen tijd heb ik dit keer weer eens voor een kaart gekozen voor de verandering ;-) Ik ben begonnen met het stempelen (VersaMark) van swirls (Viva Decor) op zwarte cardstock, heb deze bestrooid met embossing poeder van Ranger (Black Puffs) voor een wat poederachtig, fluwelen effect. En daarna verder versierd met kapotte sierraden en andere frutsels. De afbeelding is Arlette Dorgère, de fameuse actrice uit Parijs:

Today we have a new challenge over at Vintage Udfordring, one that will appeal to you all: "Anything goes". After all my 3D projects lately I thought it was a change, so I made a card this time ;-) I started stamping swirls (Viva Decor) on black cardstock (with VersaMark), sprinkled some Ranger Black Puffs on them for a soft, velvety look. I then adorned my card with some broken pieces of jewelry and other trinkets. The image is Arlette Dorgère, the famous Parisian actress:

De meesten van jullie zijn denk ik inmiddels al wel bekend met de prachtige afbeeldingen van Nicecrane Designs. Ignacio had me gevraagd om in het Design Team te komen, maar dat zou ik helaas qua tijd (andere DT's en werk) niet gaan redden. Zo lief, want ik mocht een 'permanente guest designer' zijn, wat betekent dat ik iets mag plaatsen wanneer ik wil. Ik kwam deze leuke pipowagen tegen op internet en zou 'm zó in de tuin willen zetten! Maar een miniatuurtje leek me ook wel grappig en heb hem dus in het klein gemaakt met het nieuwe papier van de Action:

Most of you will probably be familiar with the gorgeous images of Nicecrane Designs. I was invited by Ignacio to join the Design Team, but unfortunately I was unable to (due to other DTs and my job). And then Ignacio kindly allowed me to become a 'permanent guest designer', meaning that I can put up something whenever I like or have time. I came across this lovely 'caravan' on the internet and wouldn't mind having it in our backyard!  But I thought a miniature version would look cute, too, so I made a smaller version with new papers from Action:

Butterflies are self-propelled flowers...

Vandaag begint de nieuwe uitdaging bij Vintage Udfordring; we willen heel graag jullie zomerse creaties met vlinders zien! En uiteraard in het vertrouwde vintage-stijltje ;-) Voor mijn kaart heb ik mijn favoriete zomerkleuren uit de kast getrokken, in de zomer draag ik nou eenmaal het allerliefste wit óf turquoise/zeegroen. En het was weer tijd voor de tweemaandelijkse swap tussen Odetta en mij. Odetta had het thema bedacht: een zomerse bloemengroet. Ben begonnen met het beinkten van een witte kaart met de kleur Glacier Ice van Color Box en heb daarna diverse stempels gezet met allerlei kleuren (Memento Toffee Crunch, Versa Magic Magic Mauve/Turquoise Gem). Een vlinder op vellum, wat frantage erbij, klaar! Vandaag weer een warm dagje voor de boeg, dus dat wordt iets wits aan ;-) met een paar felgelakte neonroze nagels erbij ha ha ha! Help: ik moet ze nog lakken! En ik sta op het punt om naar klanten te gaan, oef! Gauw opschieten dus, bedankt voor het langskomen!

Today our new challenge begins @ Vintage Udfordring; we'd very much like to see your summer creations with butterflies! And of course these should be vintage style ;-) For my card I went with my favourite colours; in summer I love to wear white or turquoise/sea green. Furthermore, it was high time Odetta and I had a new swap again, so she set the theme: a summer card with flowers. I started off inking a white card with Glacier Ice from Color Box and stamped a whole series of stamps with all kinds of different colours (Memento Toffee Crunch, Versa Magic Magic Mauve/Turquoise Gem). A butterfly on vellum, a little touch of frantage, voilà! We've got a hot day ahead of us, so I'll be wearing something white today ;-) with a couple of matching neon pink nails, LOL! Oh dear: I still need to polish my nails! And I'm about to leave home to visit customers, argh! I've got to hurry, bye bye, thanks for watching!

Ik was achterin de tuin wat bloemen aan het plukken om op vaas te zetten, 3 x raden wie ik daar ook tegenkwam, ja ja, onze eigen Marie Antoinette ;-) Ik zeg, meid, wat leuk dat je langs komt! Heb je zin in thee met cake erbij, ach ja, zegt ze, 'let us eat cake', waarom niet. Afijn, we zitten gezellig te keuvelen, heb ik haar meteen gevraagd om even te poseren voor de verjaardagskaart voor mijn vriendin, staat ze er niet elegant op? Het prachtige romantische, bloemrijke papier van First Edition (Floral Pavilion) paste perfect bij haar. On the Beach...

Wat doe je als je geen slippers kunt vinden in je favoriete zomerkleuren? Dan maak je ze toch gewoon zelf? Het is nu éindelijk zomer in ons landje, heerlijk genieten van het warme zonnetje! Dus jurkje aan, slippertjes aan en genieten maar! Voor mijn - jammer genoeg van papier - slippertjes heb ik simpel 200 gr. papier genomen en heb hier eerst de gewenste motieven op gestempeld met Versamagic Purple Hydrangea en ben ze vervolgens gaan inkleuren met m'n Spectrum Noir markers. Daarna gewoon eroverheen gesponst met Distress Inkt Tumbled Glass en wat witte stipjes aangebracht met de Sharpie White Pen. En een echte zomerslipper is natuurlijk niet compleet zonder een beetje bling, dus op de bandjes allerlei pailletjes aangebracht. Geniet van het mooie weer! Ik kom vanavond graag weer bij jullie langs, wanneer het is afgekoeld ;-)
Oh ja, hier misschien nog een tip voor sommigen? Bloglovin' heeft soms moeite met het openen van de reactievensters, wat ik dan doe is gewoon op de rechtermuisknop klikken, dan opent zich het scherm vanzelf!

What do you do when you can't find any flipflops in your favourite summer colours? Why not make them yourselves? We're finally enjoying summer in our country, oh, the pleasure of having the warmth of the sun! So take out those lovely summer dresses, put on those flip-flops and have fun! For my flip-flops (unfortunately made of paper) I took plain white 200 gr. paper and started stamping the motives with Versamagic Purple Hydrangea. Next I coloured them with my Spectrum Noir Markers. I then sponged Distress Ink Tumbled Glass all over and added some white dots with my Sharpie White Pen. Of course real flip-flops need to have a touch of bling, so I added all kinds of sequins as well. Enjoy the lovely weather, I'll be coming round to pay you girls a visit this evening when it has cooled down a bit ;-)

Oh yes, and here's a tip for some of you? Sometimes Bloglovin' doesn't allow you to open the comment screen immediately, in those cases I just right click on my mouse and voilà, there's your comment screen!

The Little Mermaid

Zo leuk, mijn kleine nichtje Phoebe van 6 mag aanstaande zondag op voor haar B-diploma! Ze heeft gevraagd of wij dan komen kijken en ja, natuurlijk zijn wij van de partij! Heb dan ook een bijpassend kaartje voor haar gemaakt om haar succes toe te wensen en omdat ze nogal weg is van Ariel mocht die natuurlijk niet ontbreken (de tekening is van Deviantart en van de hand van de geweldige artiest Yampuff). Het plaatje is ingekleurd met Spectrum Noir Markers. Het is een front step card geworden.
How wonderful, my little 6-year-old niece Phoebe is taking her second swimming exams this coming Sunday! She has asked us whether we'd like to be present and yes, of course we'll be there! So I had to made her an appropriate card to wish her luck. She loves Ariel, so it was quite logical to use her image (which I found on Deviantart, it's a beautiful drawing by the wonderful artist Yampuff). I've coloured the image with Spectrum Noir Markers.
