Tutorial bloemen van zijde/organza - Tutorial flowers of silk/organza

Bedankt voor jullie leuke reacties op m'n bloemen, ik heb voor jullie een tutorial gemaakt zodat jullie ze zelf ook kunnen gaan maken! Je kunt er organza, zijde of voeringsstof voor gebruiken, tenminste, dat zijn de stoffen die ik zelf heb uitgeprobeerd. Experimenteer er gewoon op los zou ik zeggen, wie weet wat voor effect te krijgt! Omdat ik geen filmcamera heb, heb ik er een fototutorial van gemaakt:
Thanks for your wonderful reactions to my flowers, I made a tutorial for you so that you can start making these as well! You can use organza, silk or lining fabric, at least, those are the materials that I've put to the test. Why not experiment a little, who knows what the effects will be! Since I haven't got a handycam I made a photo tutorial:

Perfecte cirkels krijg je bijv. met je Spellbinders, ik heb de scallop gebruikt omdat dit de enige ronde vorm in verschillende maten is die ik heb ;-)

You need to cut out some circles, I used my scallop Spellbinders, the only round die I have in different sizes ;-)

Maak kleine knipjes - Make small cuts:

Na het knippen zien de cirkels er zo ongeveer uit - After cutting the circles look like this:

En dan komt het leuke gedeelte, het vormen van de bloemen! - And here comes the fun part, shaping the flowers!:

Hou ieder blaadje boven het theelichtje en let op dat je je vingers niet verbrandt! De blaadjes gaan nu opkrullen; het is niet erg dat de randjes een beetje "verbranden", dit geeft juist de gewenste vintage look:

Hold each petal over the tea light, don't burn your fingers! The petals will start curling up now, don't worry about "burnt" edges, they will give you that desired vintage look:

Wanneer je alleen de kleine cirkels gebruikt, blijven de bloemen ook klein, hoe meer blaadjes je gebruikt, des te voller dat je bloemen worden - If you only use the small circles, you will have small flowers; the more petals you use, the more body your flowers will have:

Het eindresultaat (je kunt de bloemen versieren met een knoop, ander klein bloemetje o.i.d.) The result (you can embellish your flowers with a button, other tiny flowers e.g.):

Flower Power Boekenleggers - Flower Power Bookmarks

Soms krijg je een idee van de meest rare items, in mijn geval was dat een elastiekje voor in m'n haren. Ik was een beetje aan het spelen met m'n haar, wel of geen staart en toen bedacht ik opeens dat het misschien wel leuk zou zijn om dit in het groot te gaan maken. En wat zou ik er dan mee kunnen doen? De meesten van jullie weten inmiddels vast wel dat ik gék ben van lezen en boeken en tja, dan is één en één gauw bij elkaar opgeteld! Het zijn dus bloemen-boekenleggers geworden. En dan voor elk thema weer iets anders! De bloemen zijn weer gemaakt van zijde. Ik zal zo snel mogelijk een tutorial maken, omdat er al eerder vragen over zijn geweest, goed? Wordt vervolgd!
Sometimes the funniest of items can be a source of inspiration; in my case it was an elastic hairband. I was fooling around with my hair, should I have a ponytail or not? And then it suddenly hit me: it might be fun making big hairbands. But what would I be able to do with them? Most of you probably know that I'm addicted to reading and books, so here they are: flower bookmarks! And for every kind of book a different one! I made the flowers of silk again. A tutorial will follow asap, because I've had several people asking me how to make them. Stay tuned!

Ik kan één van mijn favoriete schrijfsters, Jane Austen, natuurlijk niet overslaan, dus bij al haar boeken past de paarse of groene boekenlegger. Het elastiek was gewoon wit en heb ik met distress inkt gekleurd. I couldn't resist skipping one of my favourite authors, Jane Austen, so all of her novels can take the purple or green bookmark. The elastic band was plain white and so I coloured it with distress ink.

De afbeelding van Jane Austen heb ik op fotopapier geprint en op maat geknipt, deze in de knoop gelegd en met Glossy Accents bewerkt. In het begin is het nog een beetje melkachtig, maar het wordt al gauw glanzend. Wel goed laten drogen!! I printed the image of Jane Austen on glossy photo paper and cut down to size, laid it inside the button and added Glossy Accents. In the beginning it looks a bit milky, but it will soon get glossy. Let dry properly!

En deze is dan bijvoorbeeld voor de lichte zomerse boeken! And this one could be used for light summer reading, e.g. chicklits!

En dan wil ik ook nog graag June en Stella bedanken, ook van hen heb ik nl. vorige week deze overheerlijke award ontvangen!! Mag ik 'm doorgeven aan jullie allemaal? Hier is-t-ie:

Ik hou van Holland! - I {heart} Holland!

Op vakantie gaan naar het buitenland is leuk, maar ons eigen landje is zéker zo mooi! Het vakantieseizoen moet nog beginnen en dan komen er weer heel wat buitenlanders naar óns landje om te zien wat voor moois we allemaal te bieden hebben! En dat is heel wat! We staan natuurlijk bekend om de molens, de tulpen, de boeren op de klompen, maar ook om het oude handwerk (haken bijv.). Met deze kaart wil ik eigenlijk aan een beetje Holland promotie doen, ik lijk wel het VVV-kantoor! De tulp is een stempel van Art Specially (ingekleurd met distress inkt), de boerenkinderen is een kleurplaat (zijn een kleurplaat klinkt zo raar?). Nog iets typisch Nederlands trouwens: onze taal is soms behoorlijk lastig, ha ha ha!! De klomp heb ik uitgeknipt uit cardstock en gestempeld met Viva Decor (My Paper World 14), lint gerimpeld (kleur van onze nationale vlag!). Het gehaakte bloemetje ligt al meer dan 3 jaar in m'n la, schaam schaam... Nou ja, het heeft daar niet alleen gelegen, het lag daar in het gezelschap van andere gehaakte bloempies ;-)

Going abroad on vacation is lovely, but how about our own small country! The holiday season has yet to begin and many foreigners will come to the Netherlands to see what we have to offer, which is quite a lot! Of course our country is known for its mills, tulips, farmers on wooden shoes, but also for its handicraft (e.g. crochet). With this card I'd like to promote my country, now I start sounding like one of those ladies at the Tourist Office, LOL! The tulip is a stamp of Art Specially (coloured with distress ink), the farmer's kids is a colouring page (are a colouring page sounds so weard?). Another typically Dutch thing: our language can be quite difficult at times ;-) I cut the wooden shoe from cardstock and stamped the grass with Viva Decor (My Paper World 14), wrinkled the ribbon (in the colours of our national flag!) The crochet flower has been lying in my drawer for more than 3 years, shame on me... (well, it didn't have to lie there all by itself, it still has company of other flowers ;-)

Wat ik ook zeer waardeer is deze prachtige award die ik van Lori kreeg, nogmaals hartelijk dank hiervoor! Hij ziet er ook zo heerlijk uit! Ik moet 7 dingen over mezelf vertellen, dus hier komt-ie (ik zal proberen iets nieuws te vertellen ;-)

Kaarten maken is leuk, maar wanneer je er een cadeautje bij wilt doen dan is een doosje nét even iets leuker! Het papier dat ik hiervoor heb gebruikt is van Prima Marketing. Ik ben alleen vergeten om een foto te nemen van het open laatje, maar goed, de ontvangster weet wel wat er in zit, ha ha ha!!

I really love making cards, but when you'd love to include a gift a box card might do the trick! Papers used are Prima Marketing. Stupid me, I forgot to take a picture of the open drawer with the gift inside, but hey, the recipient knows its contents ;-)

Ik ben er weer! Back again!

Hallo lieve blogvrienden, ik ben weer terug van weggeweest. Heb met mijn mannetje heerlijk genoten van een paar zonnige weken in FYR Macedonië. Echt een aanrader dat land! Het is er werkelijk beeldschoon, de natuur is overweldigend, het eten zalig en de mensen enorm hartelijk en gastvrij. Verder kom je werkelijk overal oude kloosters en prachtige kerkjes tegen, dus voor de cultuur- en natuurliefhebbers een must! Hier wat foto's van Sv. Keano:

Dus door al dit moois ben ik de laatste tijd niet aan freubelen en bloggen toegekomen! Voor onze vakantie had ik echter deze kaart gemaakt voor een vriendin die gisteren jarig was; de stempel is van The Stampsmith, de bloem heb ik zelf gemaakt van zijde.

So because of all the lovely stuff above I didn't have time to create nor visit your blogs! Before our holiday, I had already made a card for a friend whose birthday was yesterday; the stamp is from The Stampsmith, I made the flower myself from silk.

En van de week werd ik enorm blij verrast door een andere lieve blogvriendin van me, Brenda! Ze heeft me deze prachtige items toegestuurd en alles heeft ze zelf gemaakt. Flower Girl

Vandaag is m'n zus jarig, ik heb er maar één dus ik ben er erg zuinig op! En bij een verjaardag hoort een kaart, dus dat is deze geworden. Het stempelafdrukje is van Sugar Nellie en is ingekleurd met distress inkt. Het papier dat ik heb gebruikt is van Prima Marketing, wat hebben die de laatste tijd toch mooie lijnen uitgebracht! Het randje is van Crealies. Ik wil jullie trouwens bedanken voor alle lieve, leuke, grappige reacties die ik van jullie mag ontvangen, ik word er altijd enorm blij van! 

Today is my sister's birthday, I only have one, so I'm very caring about her! And where there's a birthday there's a card, so this is the one. Ja ja, het is na achten - Yes, yes, it's after eight

Chocola is altijd leuk om te geven, een beetje aandacht voor de verpakking en je hebt een heel aardig cadeautje! Een hele simpele After Eight heb je in een mum omgetoverd. Ik heb hier standaard cardstock voor gebruikt, heb m'n Spellbinders gepakt en m'n schaartje om het silhouette van de man uit te knippen. De onderzijde is gewoon open, dus je pakt het doosje er zo uit!
Chocolate always makes a lovely giveaway. If you create a nice packing you have a wonderful gift! A very simple box of After Eight can be wrapped up nicely, here's the make-over. I used standard cardstock, took out some Spellbinders and my little pergamano scissors to cut out the male silhouette. The bottom of the packing is open, which makes it easy to take out the chocolates!

Vorig jaar werd er bij een nichtje van mijn zwager verschillende tumoren in de hersenen gevonden. Ze werd geopereerd, er werden een paar tumoren weggehaald, ze bleef blij en optimistisch, lief en hartelijk. Ze herstelde behoorlijk snel en genoot weer van volle teugen van het leven. Totdat ze onlangs het bericht kreeg dat de andere tumoren toch weer zijn gegroeid... En weer is en blijft ze vol vertrouwen en midden in het leven staan na even uit het veld geslagen te zijn. Ze is moeder van 3 nog jonge kinderen en ongelooflijk dapper, ik heb enorm veel respect voor haar wilskracht en doorzettingsvermogen. Als dat geen ware Girl Power is!!

Last year the cousin of my brother-in-law had several brain tumors. She underwent surgery, a couple of tumors were removed, she remained happy, optimistic, sweet and kind as always. She had a speedy recovery and rejoiced in life again. Until she recently received some bad news: the other tumors started to grow again... And yet she remains full of confidence and enjoying life, after having been dejected for only the briefest of moments. She's the mother of 3 young children and tremendously brave, I hugely admire and respect her, she's so courageous and her perseverance is remarkable. Now this is the real Girl Power in my opinion!!

Bloemenbad - Flower Bath

Vandaag is mijn laatste dag als Artist in Residence bij French Kissed Postcards. Ik heb het enig gevonden om met het prachtige materiaal dat Trishia in haar webshops aanbiedt, te werken. Nogmaals heel hartelijk dank dat je mij wilde hosten Trishia! Ik heb met veel plezier voor je gewerkt! Dit is de afbeelding die ik voor mijn bloemenbad (gespiegeld) heb gebruikt. Ik wou een beetje zo'n mooie ouderwetse vintage-reclameposter nabootsen en omdat mei nu eenmaal bloemenmaand is én een bloemenbad gewoon heerlijk romantisch is, heb ik zo'n gezellig oud bad op pootjes gemaakt. De pootjes zijn met de Spellbinders die (Symbology One) gemaakt en op maat uitgeknipt. Het parfum-flesje is van K & Company (Madeline Grand Adhesions) en de stempeltjes van o.a. Inkadinkado. Today is my last day as Artist in Residence at French Kissed Postcards. I really enjoyed working with the beautiful postcards that Trishia has to offer in her webshops. Thanks again for hosting me Trishia! I loved working for and with you! This is the (mirror) image I used for my flower bath. I wanted to imitate the old-fashioned vintage posters and since May is the month of flowers AND because a flower bath is delicously romantic, I made an old vintage clawfoot tub. I used Spellbinders die (Symbology One) for the claw feet and cut out the right size. The perfume bottle is K & Company (Madeline Grand Adhesions) and the stamps from a.o. Inkadinkado. Background paper is Prima Marketing. Don't forget to check French Kissed Postcards coming Monday for another freebie!

Best Friends

Moeders en dochters, hele boeken zijn er vol over geschreven en liedjes aan gewijd. Aangezien ik noch een goede auteur, noch een goede 
liedjesschrijver ben, heb ik voor een andere manier gekozen om mijn moeder te eren, een scrapbook LO. Toen ik het prachtige nieuwe papier van Kaisercraft (Chanteuse Collection) zag, was ik verkocht. Eindelijk kon ik de favoriete babyfoto van mijn moeder en mij gaan bewerken. Het heeft wel wat jaartjes geduurd voordat ik zelf zo ver was, ik had zelfs moeite met het woord "moederdag" de eerste jaren na haar overlijden... Mijn moeder was niet alleen mijn moeder, maar ook mijn allerbeste vriendin, we hebben heel wat afgelachen en ondernomen samen, geweldige herinneringen, herinneringen die op het moment dat deze foto van ons samen werd genomen nog allemaal geboren moesten worden... De bloemen heb ik gemaakt van voeringstof, de takjes zijn gemaakt met een stans van Crealies. 

Mothers and daughters, entire books and beautiful songs have been written about them. Since I'm neither a good author, nor a fine songwriter, I chose a different way to honour my mother, a scrapbook LO. When I first laid eyes on the new papers of Kaisercraft (Chanteuse Collection) I knew what I wanted to make. At long last I was able to do something with my favourite baby picture of my mother and I. It took me quite some years though to get this far, I even couldn't see the word "Mother's Day" the first years after she died... My mother was not just my mum, but also my very best friend. How many times we laughed our heads off! And the things we did together... Wonderful memories, all of them, memories that had yet to be born the minute this picture was taken... The flowers are made of lining fabric, the branches are made with a Crealies diecut.

Butterfly Kisses

Vandaag is de grote dag voor Prince William en Kate, ik bedoel Catherine, want zo zal ze gaan heten na hun Koninklijke Huwelijk. We hebben sowieso een paar Koninklijke Dagen voor de boeg, want zaterdag wordt hier natuurlijk ook nog eens Koninginnedag gevierd! Zoveel koninklijks in slechts 2 dagen! Dus moest ik hier iets geschikts voor zien te verzinnen. Echte Royalty draagt tiara's, toch? Kijk, mij zou zo'n tiara staan als de eerste de beste verklede schoonheidskoningin (nou ja, laat dat schoonheid maar weg, ha ha ha!!) Ok, de ceremoniemeester mag het van me overnemen, wij gaan knutselen! Voor deze kroon heb ik een tiara uitgeknipt en met Spellbinders (Fancy Tags 3) 'gemodelleerd'. Het papier is van Prima Marketing (Flights of Fancy - Firefly). Het gelukkige paartje is afkomstig van een ansichtkaart die Trishia me stuurde. Wat kijken ze elkaar verliefd aan! En vlinders, heerlijk, vlinders in je buik! (deze zijn gemaakt met papier van Webster's Pages, de quote aan de linkerkant van de kroon is daar trouwens ook van): Today is the big day for Prince William and Kate, I mean Catherine, because that’s how she will be called after their Royal Wedding. We’re in for a couple of Royal Days by the way, Saturday we are celebrating Queen’s Day in the Netherlands as well. So much Royalty in only 2 days! So I had to come up with a regal theme this week. True Royalty needs tiaras, right? I mean I would look like a Pageant Queen dressed up, but then again I’m not true royalty am I (notice the small letters instead of the Capitals, LOL!). Ok, I’ll leave the official stuff to the Master of Ceremonies, let’s get crafting! For this crown I cut a tiara and modeled it with some Spellbinders (Fancy Tags 3), papers are Prima Marketing (Flights of Fancy – Firefly). The happy couple was cut from a postcard that Trishia sent me, I love the looks they exchange, don’t you? And butterfly kisses, too! (butterflies are Webster’s Pages, as is the love quote on the left side of the crown):

Hoe vinden jullie de Franse quote op de rechterkant van de kroon? "“Rappelons-nous le jour ou traversant ce bois nos yeux se sont croisés pour la première fois ?“ (voor diegenen onder jullie wie hier geen cake van kunnen bakken, dit betekent: "kun je je nog de dag herinneren dat we elkaar voor het eerst zagen in dit bos tijdens het wandelen?" 
Don’t you just love the French quote on the right side? “Rappelons-nous le jour ou traversant ce bois nos yeux se sont croisés pour la première fois ?“ (For those of you who don’t know what this means, it says “do you remember the day we walked through this forest and we first laid eyes on each other?”

Oh, die allereerste blik... Herinneren jullie je nog dat speciale moment? Kun je nog de vlinders in je buik voelen? En de wederzijdse aantrekkingskracht die tot zoveel opwinding leidt? (ja ja, ook fysiek ja!) Vandaar het idee van het corset op de achterkant van de kroon ;-)
Ah, that very first look… Do you still remember your special moment? Did you feel butterflies in your stomach? And the mutual attraction that leads to so much excitement (yes, yes, physical, too!)? Hence the idea of the corset on the back of the crown ;-) 

Het prachtige "juweel" bovenop de kroon maakte ooit deel uit van een armband. Hulde aan het Prinselijk Paar!
Last but not least: the precious “jewel” on top of the crown was part of a broken bracelet.
