Some Peony Roses For You

Graag wil ik jullie bedanken voor al jullie trouwe bezoekjes en leuke, grappige, lieve, enthousiaste en spontane reacties op al mijn gefreubel. Kan hier altijd enorm van genieten en ik waardeer jullie dan ook bijzonder. Daarom wil ik jullie vandaag allemaal een bloemetje van eigen hand aanbieden:

Ik heb een piepschuimen bol (de helft) versierd met 6 pioenrozen van koffiefilters. Hier een beknopte werkbeschrijving: Neem de 3 grootste maten van de Spellbinders Peony Nestabilities en stans 6 blaadjes uit 3 koffiefilters (ze zijn immers dubbel?). Neem één velletje van het grootste formaat en vul deze op met reststukjes, dit bolletje vormt het hart van je bloem. Vervolgens plak je ieder laagje op elkaar, van groot naar klein, het bolletje komt in het midden. Om er toch een zacht tintje aan te geven, heb ik rose acrylverf gemengd met water en er de bloemen mee beschilderd. Daarna kan het verdere versieren beginnen met parels, roosjes, een vintageplaatje met daaromheen een frame gemaakt met de Spellbinders Oval Frame en wat plukjes kant tussen de bloemen. 

I took a styrofoam ball (half of it) and mounted 6 peony flowers made from coffee filters. Here's a short tutorial on how to make these: take the largest 3 dies from Spellbinders Peony Nestabilities and cut 6 petals from 3 filters (after all they're double). Take one petal (largest size) and fill it up with scrap filter pieces, this little ball will be the centre of your flower. Next thing you do is glue every layer (from large to small), the ball is stuck in the centre. To give the flower a soft colour, I took some acrylic paint (pink), mixed it with water and applied it to my flowers. Then you can start embellishing even more: I added pearls, roses, a vintage image with a frame made with Spellbinders Oval Frame and some lace between the flowers.

There's Always Time For Paris

Enkele weken geleden heb ik met mijn telefoonboek de challenge gewonnen bij City Crafter Challenge Blog en als prijs mocht ik Guest Designer zijn deze week. Helemaal leuk dus! Kirsty, Ros, Cheryl en Linda nogmaals bedankt dat jullie me willen hebben! De challenge van deze week heeft alles te doen met TIJD, er moet dus een klok worden verwerkt in je creatie. En omdat het niet voor niets City Crafter Challenge Blog heet, heb ik - alweer ja! - gekozen voor de romantiek van Parijs. In welke tijd je er ook heen gaat, het is er altijd prachtig en romantisch. Heb van mijn Eiffeltorentje dus maar een liefdesklokje gemaakt. Maar omdat de échte Parisiennes over het algemeen zo elegant zijn, heb ik nog een klein uurwerkje erbij gemaakt; heb hiervoor de kartonnen klos van band gepimpt en foto's van actrices als Doris Kenyon, Ginger Rogers, Joan Crawford, Marlène Dietrich en andere klassieke dames in de filmstrip geplaatst. Want er zijn heel wat juweeltjes van films geschoten in deze beeldschone stad! Voor Parijs maak ik altijd graag tijd vrij!

Some weeks ago I won the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog with my phone book and my prize was to be this week's Guest Designer. How exciting! Kirsty, Ros, Cheryl and Linda thank you all so much for having me, you talented girls! The challenge of this week is all about TIME. So you have to use a clock in your creation. And since it's called City Crafter Challenge Blog I chose - yes, again! for the romantic city of Paris. No matter when you go there, whatever season, it's always beautiful and romantic there. So I made an Eiffeltower and turned it into a love clock. But since the true Parisian ladies are generally so elegant I added a small round clock; I used a cardboard ribbon holder, altered this and placed photos of classic actresses such as Doris Kenyon, Ginger Rogers, Joan Crawford, Marlène Dietrich and other classic ladies in the film strip. Because lots of beautiful classic movies have been made in this gorgeous city! I always have plenty of time available when it comes to Paris ;-)

Paris is always a good idea!

Deze week weer een swap gedaan met m'n lieve blogmaatje Odetta van Somerset Garden. Het leek ons allebei leuk om iets met dressforms en Parijs te doen, want ja, zeg nou zelf, kun je ooit genoeg krijgen van Parijs? Sterker nog, iedere keer wanneer ik er beelden van zie, heb ik weer meteen zin om erheen te gaan! Voor Odetta heb ik deze dressform gemaakt, heb een kopie gemaakt van een bestaande mal uit mijn bezit en deze aangepast aan de breedte van het Tim Holtz vogelkooitje. Ben daarna lekker aan het pimpen geslagen met papier, een camee van kunsthars en andere versiersels zoals kant en strass-steentjes. Vond het wel zo leuk om ook de achterkant een beetje op te leuken en heb er vleugels aan gemaakt om het een beetje als een vlinder eruit te laten zien:

My dear blog buddy Odetta from Somerset Garden and I had another swap this week. We both thought it would be nice to do something with dressforms and Paris. Be honest, can you ever get enough of Paris? Every time I see images of this fabulous city I immediately feel like going there again! I made this dressform for Odetta; I made a copy of an existing template from my collection and adapted it to the width of the Tim Holtz bird cage. I then took to embellishing it with papers, a resin cameo and other items such as lace and gem stones. Of course I also embellished the back a bit and added some wings to give it the look of a butterfly:

Dit is toch bééldschoon?  En dan te bedenken dat ze dat helemaal speciaal voor mij heeft gemaakt, vind ik zó lief van haar! Nogmaals ongelooflijk bedankt voor dit prachtige cadeautje Odetta, het is een schot in de roos!

Bloom where you are planted

Ik kom zojuist uit m'n hobbykamer na het grootste gedeelte van de (zonnige!) dag buiten te hebben doorgebracht. Ook zo genoten? Morgen is het weer anders, maar goed, dan moeten we toch weer gewoon werken ;-) Jullie zijn inmiddels vast goed bekend met de Memory Box stanzen, maar wisten jullie dat ze ook een prachtige serie stempels uit hebben gebracht? Ik heb er ééntje hier gebruikt op mijn kaart en geprobeerd om een beetje de lente bij jullie binnen te brengen. Deze fraaie bloemstempel luistert naar de haast poëtische naam "Whisper Print Geranium", vandaar dat ik er ook nog een tekststempel bij heb gebruikt:

I've just left my hobby room after having spent the larger part of this (sunny!) day outside. Did you enjoy the day as much as I have? I used one of them on my card and tried to bring spring into your homes. En dan nog iets van een heel ander kaliber: WAARSCHUWING! Er zijn mensen die er kennelijk genoegen in scheppen om accounts te hacken (zelfs onschuldige zoals die van ons!); zo ontving ik de afgelopen tijd van een paar blogvriendinnen mailtjes om geld aan hen over te maken, ze zouden op vakantie zijn in Madrid (Spanje) en zijn overvallen, of ik (en anderen) maar geld wilden overmaken zodat ze hun retourtickets konden kopen. Nou heb ik hier niet op gereageerd, je hebt immers een reisverzekering voor dat soort zaken? Maar ik kan me voorstellen dat je toch maar raar opkijkt! Mochten jullie dit ook ontvangen, NIET op reageren dus, je speelt die bende alleen maar in de kaart!

And then there's this: WARNING! There are people who obviously love hacking accounts (even innocent blogs like ours!). I received several mails in the past few weeks from blog buddies in which they ask for money. Supposedly they're in Madrid (Spain) on a holiday and they have been robbed, could I (and others) please transfer some money so that they can buy return tickets. I never respond to such mails, after all, who travels without a travel insurance? But I can imagine your thoughts! Should you receive such mails, too, do NOT reply! All you do is help these criminals!

Voyage au Languedoc

Als groot wijnliefhebber was ik enorm verguld met de prachtige wijnetiketten die ik enige tijd geleden van Jacqueline mocht ontvangen. Zij maakt er de prachtigste stempelcreaties mee, ik heb gekozen om m'n koffer te pakken (de template heb ik van deze blog en heb de maten aan het wijnlabel aangepast), m'n journal mee te nemen om aantekeningen onderweg te kunnen maken en een parasolletje mee te nemen om ergens langs één van de talrijke rivierbeddingen die Frankrijk rijk is neer te strijken. Meteen een paar wijnboerderijen bezoeken, proeven, genieten. Maar we beginnen in Parijs, in de Ritz, tja, je moet natuurlijk wel in stijl je reis aanvangen hè? Zin om mee te gaan?

Being a huge wine fan I was extremely pleased with the gorgeous wine labels that Jacqueline sent me. She's using them for her magnificent stamped cards, I chose to use such a delicate label to pack my suitcase (I found the template on this blog and adapted it to my own measurements), take my journal with me to fill it up with wayside stories and of course a parasol for one of my many stops at the numerous riverbanks of France. Visit several wine chateaux along the way, taste some wines, simply enjoy. But we'll start our journey in Paris, at the Ritz, we need to travel in style, don't we? Like to join me?

From My Crafty Heart

Time for romance

Wat een heerlijk weertje is het toch hè? Waar hebben we 't aan verdiend! Omdat we nu weer kunnen genieten van zwoele zomeravonden buiten, wil ik het op het terras ook gezellig maken en heb een paar oude windlichten een nieuw jasje gegeven. Heb stukken stevig linnen bestempeld, gerafeld en om de windlichten gedaan. Een paar keer touw eromheen, parellint en een bloem gemaakt van kant en tule. Nog wat kleine schilderijlijstjes erbij met daarin wat jaren '20 gezichten van mooie dames en ja, dan ben je zo lekker bezig, dan maar meteen een romantisch jurkje erbij (tag) en een roos gemaakt van koffiefilters (met distress inkt gekleurd). Theelichtjes erin en genieten maar!
Are you enjoying the weather as much as I do right now? To what do we owe this pleasure! Since we are now allowed to enjoy those wonderful sultry summer evenings outdoors, I'd like to make things nice outside as well and altered a couple of old big tea light holders. Gave them a new look. I took some sturdy burlap, stamped it and frayed the edges. Wound some sisal around the glasses, some pearl ribbon and added a DIY flower of lace and tulle. Added a couple of small picture frames in which I put some lovely ladies' faces and while I was at it even made a romantic dress tag and a rose out of coffee filters (which I died with distress ink). Now all I need to do is put some tea lights inside!

Sarah Kay's Cottage

Ik ben altijd al dol geweest op de afbeeldingen van Sarah Kay, dus toen onze teamleidster Teresa van My Crafty Heart mij nieuwe stempels toestuurde om mee te werken, was ik meteen enthousiast en heb vandaag maar direct twee creaties om te laten zien. Een cottage en een framekaart.  Ik heb altijd in een cottage willen wonen, het liefste ergens in Engeland, in de Cotswolds, met veel, héél veel bloemen in de tuin en een ouderwetse waterput. Met die bloemen in de tuin is het wel goed gekomen en de rest? Droom ik er toch gewoon bij? De template voor dit huisje is van Papertrey Ink. Heb de dakrand afgemaakt met een stukje kant, grote parels en de pearl pen voor de kleine pareltjes.
I've always been fond of Sarah Kay, so when our team leader Teresa of My Crafty Heart sent me some new stamps to work with I immediately fell for them. So today I would like to show you two creations, made with the same stamp. A cottage and a frame card. I've always wanted to live in a cottage, preferably somewhere in the UK, in the Cotswolds, with a lot, a tremendous lot of flowers in the garden and one of those old water wells. Part of the dream came true, the flower bit and the rest? Hey, we should all have our dreams, right? The template of this little cottage is from Papertrey Ink. I finished the roof with a piece of lace, large pearls and used the Pearl Pen to make the smaller pearls in between.
