Black or White or? Colours!!

Voor Poppystamps weer eens wat kaarten gemaakt. Ben een beetje tegenstrijdig bezig geweest, zwart/wit versus kleur. Maar omdat ik nu eenmaal een echt kleurenmens ben, eerst de kleurenkaart. Hiervoor eerst met distress inkt een achtergrond gemaakt en daarover heen gestencild, de Sharpie-pen deed de rest, gewoon beetje freestyle ingetekend en stippeltjes aangebracht, allemaal niet zo netjes, mag ook wel eens een keer ;-) Vond het achteraf wel wat op vuurwerk lijken!
Made some cards for Poppystamps again, quite a contradiction really, since I've made a couple in black and white and the other one in colour. But since I simply love colours, I'd like to show you my coloured version first. Made a background with distress inks, used my MB stencils with white ink and my Sharpie pen did the rest, did a bit of freestyle drawing and added little dots here and there. Not so neat, makes a nice change ;-) Afterwards I thought, hey, it's a bit like fireworks!

Met die twee swirl-stansen kun je een geweldige zee maken! Heerlijk toch, om zo dicht aan zee te wonen?

You can make a fabulous sea with these two swirl dies! Don't you just love being so close to the seaside?

En dan terug de tijd in: die van de zwart/wit film. Die leuke filmstrip van Poppystamps is echt zo geschikt voor het thema 'bioscoop'. Van wie de symbolen zijn (die met de hand zijn uitgeknipt)? Tja, wie kent ze niet, zou ik zeggen! De quotes zijn uiteraard van de beroemdheden zelf ;-)
And now let's go back in time: the days of the black and white films. The fabulous film strip of Poppystamps is absolutely perfect for the cinema theme. I hand cut the symbols, guess who they belong to? You all know them, I'd say! The quotes are of the celebrities themselves ;-)

A Party Without Cake Is Just A Meeting

Gisteren vierde blogvriendin Anneke haar verjaardag en natuurlijk hoort daar een kaartje bij, nou ja, in dit geval een mini theatertje. Versierd met het schattige papier van de Action, kantje en houten vlindertjes (cadeautje van lief vriendinnetje Odetta). De vlaggenlijn is gemaakt met de stans van Joy!Crafts 6003/0028, de bloem is van Memory Box (Fabulous Phlox). Het gave klokje en kant komen uit de webwinkel van Frida (supertip van Odetta ;-) Let op hoor, je wordt er erg hebberig van, heb zojuist weer wat besteld bij haar! De bovenrand is gemaakt met een stans van Spellbinders.

Yesterday blog buddy Anneke was celebrating her birthday and that calls for a card, well, a mini theatre in this case. Adorned with the lovely papers from Action (A Dutch store), lace and wooden butterflies (they were a gift from my sweet friend Odetta). The banner was made with the Joy!Crafts die 6003/0028, flower: Memory Box (Fabulous Phlox). The cool clock and lace are from Frida's webstore (fantastic tip from Odetta ;-) Mind you, you'll want to order something straight away, I've just placed another order! The top part was made with Spellbinders:

New Sketch Challenge

Vandaag hebben we bij Vintage Udfordring weer een nieuwe uitdaging voor jullie, een sketch deze keer. Dit is wat ik ervan heb gemaakt, niet erg creatief, ik ben de eerste die het toegeeft, had nét iets teveel aan m'n hoofd, maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat jullie vast iets mooiers kunnen maken, doen jullie mee? Love Wreath

Na een hele drukke werkweek toch weer wat tijd gevonden om iets te maken voor ons Poppystamps blog. Ik heb het voor mijn doen heel eenvoudig gehouden, een simpele, klassieke krans in klassieke, rustige kleuren:

After a very busy week at work I was able to find some time again to create something for our Poppystamps blog. This is quite a CAS card to me, a plain, classic wreath in classic, soft colours:

Voor de vlinder niet alleen papier, maar ook vellum gebruikt, geeft zo'n teer effect. Nog wat nep-stiksteekjes erop en wat parelbloemetjes. Lint van de Wibra:

Not only did I use paper for the butterfly, but also vellum; this gives such tenderness to this delicate creature. I also added some faux stitches and some pearl flowers. Ribbon from Wibra (a Dutch store):

Carpe Diem... Pluk de dag! Deze dame heeft er in elk geval zin in, ze viert het leven ;-) Heb een oud houten fotolijstje gepimpt met wat bling en een veertje van Joy!Crafts en ballonnetje van Marianne Design, de grote swirl is van Memory Box. Fijne avond, geniet ervan, ik ga in elk geval zometeen heerlijk van een nieuwe CSI aflevering genieten!

This lady sure does, she really celebrates life ;-) I've altered an old wooden photoframe, added a bit of bling, a die cut feather from Joy!Crafts, a heart balloon from Marianne Design and a large swirl from Memory Box. Beach Life...

Wat doe je als je al twee weken superverkouden bent, spierpijn hebt, eigenlijk in bed moet liggen, veel te veel werk hebt en je zus ook nog eens jarig is? Juist ja, gewoon doorgaan met alles en iets leuks voor je zus maken ;-) En al helemaal wanneer je er maar ééntje hebt, net als ik! Heb weer eens gekozen voor één van die prachtige afbeeldingen van Ignacio (Nicecrane Designs). Eentje heb ik op mijn kaart gebruikt en de andere heb ik gewoon geprint op speciaal transparant printpapier, zand in de glaasjes, schelpjes en kaarsje erin en je hebt een leuke deco:
So what do you do when you've got a major cold, all of your muscles hurt, you really ought to stay in bed, you have way too big a work load and your sister is having her birthday? Right, you just continue living and start creating something nice for your sweet sis ;-) And especially when you only have one, like me! Again I chose one of Ignacio's (Nicecrane Designs). I used one for my card and the others were printed on special transparency paper, I put some sand in the jars, added some sea shells and some fragrant tea lights, voilà!

Altered Milk Bottle

Kennen jullie ze nog? Deze oude melkflessen? Kun je toch leuke dingen meedoen! Bij de glasbak kan altijd nog ;-) Ik heb er in elk geval ééntje aan de binnenkant geverfd met acrylverf (van dat mooie koninklijke blauw), gewoon wat verf mengen met een beetje water en in de fles laten lopen, flesje ronddraaien, drogen, klaar om te worden versierd. Dit was-t-ie:
Still familiar with those? These old milk bottles? Why not recycle them and turn them into something nice? You can always leave them at the Bottle Bank ;-) I painted one from the inside with acrylic paint (royal blue), just add a bit of water to your paint and pour it into the bottle, turn and twist the bottle a bit, leave it to dry and it's ready to be adorned. Here's the original:

En dit is-t-ie uiteindelijk geworden, versierd met een hoop bling bling. Ik heb geprobeerd er iets meer exotisch van te maken - And this is how it turned out, adorned with a lot of rhinestones, I've tried to turn it into something more exotic:

Ik heb een behoorlijke collectie van deze prachtige Turkse aardenwerken schaaltjes en daar wou ik nog wel een gezellige bloemenvaas of zo bij. Rondom uitgestanste ramen gelijmd, daarin weer glanspapier in diverse kleuren: - I have a fair collection of these gorgeous Turkish earthenware dishes and I thought it would be nice to have a matching flower vase as well. I glued the die cut Gothic windows all around the bottle and added glossy papers in different colours:

Will You Marry Me?

Allereerst moet ik sorry zeggen tegen jullie, omdat ik al zowat een hele week niet bij jullie langs ben geweest... Het is superhectisch op dit moment met bezoeken bij en van klanten/leveranciers, dat het bloggen er een beetje bij inschiet. Hoop dit echter van het weekend allemaal in te halen hoor (en dat ik dan weer eens lekker ouderwets kan gaan freubelen, want ook dat komt er nu niet van!). Vandaag hebben we voor jullie een nieuwe challenge bij Vintage Udfordring en dat is "Huwelijk". Er zijn ook weer leuke prijzen te winnen trouwens ;-) Manlief en ik kennen elkaar trouwens ook alweer 27 jaar en hebben het nog steeds superleuk samen, we verrassen elkaar regelmatig met van alles en nog wat (wat laat ik graag aan jullie verbeelding over, ha ha ha!) Maar het belangrijkste is dat we altijd iets aan elkaar te vertellen hebben en echt praten. En jullie? Ben benieuwd naar jullie verhalen! Ik kom gauw langs, beloofd!

First of all I'd like to say sorry to you girls for not having visited your blogs for about a week now... Things are extremely hectic at work at the moment with visits to and from customers/suppliers, hence the lack of time to blog. I hope to catch up with you all this weekend though (and to do a bit of crafting myself as well, because I don't have time for that either, argh!) Today we have a new challenge for you at Vintage Udfordring which is "Wedding". By the way, there are some nice prizes to be won as well ;-) My DH and I have known each other for 27 years now and are still having a great time and lots of fun together, we love to surprise each other with all kinds of things (I'll leave that to your imagination, LOL!) A Smile Is The Prettiest Thing You Can Wear...

Goedemorgen, lekker geslapen allemaal? De dag hopelijk met een lach of minimaal glimlach begonnen? Jullie weten allemaal vast wel dat lachen gezond is, zelfs een glimlach ontspant al! En ook al zit het leven zelf soms in de weg, bedenk dan dat uiteindelijk alles weer goed komt! Toen ik deze mooie dames bij Ignacio van Nicecrane Designs zag, was ik daar helemaal weg van, ze zijn zo chique en klassiek! Daar móest ik iets mee doen en dit is het geworden:
Goodmorning everyone, did you sleep well? Hopefully you started the day with laughter or at least a smile? You probably all know that laughing is good for your health, even a smile relaxes! And even if life sometimes gets in the way, please remember that in the end it will all be ok again! When I saw these pretty ladies at Ignacio's Nicecrane Designs I was immediately taken in, for they are so stylish and classy! I just had to make something with them:

Ik heb één van de dames gebruikt om een ketting mee te maken. Hiervoor heb ik diverse charms gebruikt, de afbeelding in de hanger geplaatst en vervolgens bewerkt met Glossy Accents. Nog wat frantage op het stanswerk en Flower Soft op haar fraaie decolleté aangebracht. Maar achteraf gezien had ze misschien liever haar minnaar om haar nek gehad ;-)
I used one of the ladies for my necklace. I used different charms to create one, placed the image inside the pendant and added Glossy Accents. I also added some frantage on the dies and her cleavage is surrounded by Flower Soft. But she might have preferred the image of her lover around her neck ;-)

Books Make The World Go Around...

Toen ik van Ignacio van Nicecrane Designs weer wat mooie plaatjes uit de collectie Little Picture Songs kreeg om mee te werken, was ik meteen geraakt door de afbeelding die ik hier heb gebruikt. Waarom vragen jullie je misschien af? Nou, mijn ouders stimuleerden ons heel erg om vooral veel te lezen, om onze fantasie te gebruiken. En daarbij verzon mijn vader altijd de leukste verhalen voor het slapen gaan (die dan vaak gingen over een ondernemend konijntje en haar avonturen, en ja, jullie raden het vast al: dat konijntje was ik ha ha ha!) Dus deze afbeelding bracht hele dierbare herinneringen bij me naar boven. Ben nu nog een enorme leesfanaat. Wat ligt er trouwens bij jullie op het nachtkastje? Ik ben momenteel "Rasputin's Shadow" aan het lezen van Raymond Khoury, heerlijk spannend en mysterieus! Afijn, om nu niet meteen een heel boek te gaan schrijven, ik heb dus een boekenrol gemaakt (van een oude lintspoel). Er gingen meer origami miniboekjes in dan ik dacht! Wát een vouwwerk zeg ;-) Ik heb de afbeelding ingekleurd met Derwent Coloursoft.

 When Ignacio from Nicecrane Designs sent me some lovely images from the Little Picture Songs collection I was immediately smitten with the image I have used here. You may wonder why? Well, my parents used to stimulate us tremendously to read, to use our imagination. And my father used to invent the best of bedtime stories. He would often tell tales of this enterprising little bunny and her adventures. You probably would have guessed that this little bunny was me, lol! So this particular image brings back very sweet memories. I still am an ardent reader. By the way, would you like to share with me what you are currently reading? I'm reading "Rasputin's Shadow" by Raymond Khoury at the mo, it's exhilarating and mysterious! Well, let's stop writing complete novels here and let me tell you what I did: I altered an old ribbon spool and added lots of origami mini booklets (gosh, there's more of them than I'd expected ;-) Took me ages to fold them all ;-) I coloured this image with Derwent Coloursoft.

King's Day... only a couple of days away...

Bijna Koningsdag! Wel even wennen hoor, ook al scheelt het maar een paar dagen. Ben vandaag oranjegezind, heb een serietje Hollandse kaarten gemaakt (had er sowieso ééntje nodig voor een buitenlandse relatie van ons, dat kwam dus mooi uit ;-) 
Tja, koetjes, tulpjes, rijtjeshuizen? Toch best Hollands? Gemaakt met die leuke nieuwe stansen van Poppystamps:
It's almost King's Day! I still need to get used to it (for my foreign friends: we used to celebrate Queen's Day, but all that has changed now that we have a King). I'm feeling pretty nationalistic today, I've made a series of Dutch cards (needed one for one of our foreign relationships, so that came in quite handy ;-) Need I say more? Cows, tulips, terraced houses? Pretty Dutch I'd say? Made these cards with those fab new dies from Poppystamps:

Beefeater Bunnies

Erg hè, ik heb dit jaar slechts één Paaskaart gemaakt en die is voor mijn zus en haar gezin. Zij gaan de Paasvakantie in Engeland doorbrengen en dus leek het me wel gezellig om een combi-kaartje te maken, om hen zowel fijne Paasdagen alsmede een goede reis toe te wensen! Ik ben - zoals jullie wel weten - helemaal wég van klassieke kleding en dus ook van de kleding die de Yeoman Warders, oftewel "Beefeaters", in de UK dragen. Laat ik nou bij ons in de tuin nét de juiste konijnen tegen komen met precies de juiste lengte oren? Meteen gevraagd of ze zin hadden in een verkleedpartijtje en daar hadden ze wel oren naar ja, ha ha ha! Fijne Paasdagen gewenst!! 
Shame on me... I only made one single Easter card this year and I've sent it to my sister and her family. They'll be spending the Easter holidays in the UK and so I thought it would be fun to combine two wishes in one card, the first to wish them Happy Easter and the second to wish them a safe trip! As you probably all know by now I'm totally smitten with classic costumes, hence also by the costumes worn by the UK Yeoman Warders, AKA "Beefeaters". And would you believe it? I just happened to bump into the right bunnies in our garden with exactly the correct set of ears. And so I asked them whether they would like to play dress up with me and fortunately for me they were all ears ;-) Happy Easter to you all!!
